      Hi Bob,

Now that is what I was waiting to hear.

Hey, this July at GGC, I will let you drive mine if you let me drive yours.

Alan hasn't had time to get the Cuda back to Young's to get it dynoed. I've got to go get it and have it in Atlanta by Monday to have it in a photo shoot for Mother's Wax. They're renting a studio and a bunch of fancy cameras and equipment, bringing a photographer in from California (Drake Morton) and Ken Holland from Mother's Wax will be on hand to do the shoot. Alan called Young's and put a laptop on the Cuda and has it pretty close. I'm going to run it some more before I take it back to get it dynoed.

We are going to change clutches in the Cuda..anyone tried the dual disc 8" Mcleod clutch with the light Pressure Plate and Aluminum Flywheel? It weighs a scant 20#'s complete. I want to see how it works on the street. I know it's quick release but supposedly not off/on like a light switch. We are also looking at Spec, Exidy,Tilton,..as you know the Cuda is street driven and competes some too. need something that works well in both areas.

Well, It is not the same, but possible a sign of things to come. prodigy runs a small 153 tooth aluminum wheel and a 12" dual disc, and it is on its way back at McCloed as we speak, it's burned plum up in 1000 miles. It wieghs in at 35lbs wheel and clutch, but has always made a burning smeell since day one. I will let you know what they say and do. It could be our fault, altough so far we have passed the quiz.

Bob you just listed the last clutch you'll ever buy. Tilton! Talk to Kurt over at Tilton and make sure to get the 7.25" Carbon/Carbon. I've run one in the Supra for a few years now at over 800rwhp and it will take any abuse you can throw at it. Plus it's so light and easy to drive you SERIOUSLY will never use another clutch!!! When I took it out of the box I thought a Formula 1 team sent me their setup! I slept with it that night... ;) My setup weighed 19lbs total including the release bearing. As you see below in the pics the flywheel is solid, they have another that is half the weight but's harder to drive.

      Here's a couple of pics:

dual 12" discs? Damn they all said the Cuda would have been fine with a single 11" but the flywheel wouldn't fit in the can with a starter ring on it. Why would you need dual 12"s...If you've got room for a 12, a single should hold it fine..Alloway blew the Mcleod out right off the bat but he didn't have it adjusted right ( on the black Challenger)not sure what brand Terzich had in the Starliner but it blew right out. The Centerforce lasted pretty good in the Cuda, Felt great, but I'm not sure all that inertia wasn't hurting my shifting. how did Prodigy shift with those dual !2's..Did you ever power shift it or wind it real tight and shift it fast?

About the only truth I see in the above statement is that Abdullah the tent maker would have to make the jacket.

Bob. it shifted very nice, but always made a clutch smell. They will have it back Tuesday, lets see what they say. But this was what Red recomended. The big pressure plate covers the little flywheel end to end

Great input, and timely. I have been worried about this part of the Satellite we're doing, it's not as serious as the other cars listed here (guessing ~ 700 HP at the crank), but I'd prefer to only do this once. Big heavy car, good amount of torque is a recipe, well, you know.. Never ran a dual disc, but it seems like this is the best setup these days. Any maintenance issues, etc? I'm sure it won't be cheap, but if it works right the first time, it's worth it. I recently put a Tilton Hyd. throwout in the Camaro, pedal effort isn't as light as I thought, but man that little sucker disengages fast, very little pedal travel needed. Tilton makes very, very nice stuff.

Bob, if you DO indeed get an invite to Hef's place, put in a good word for all of your nutcase horny motorhead buddies too, please (er, me included...).

      Mark,

The only maintenance you have is to replace the "spacer" disk once you have worn the carbon driven disks down .025". You have to pull the clutch pack out of the car and dissamble to replace it. But I'm still running on the first spacer and have .019 to go until I replace! I would guess on a street driven car that is abused regularly. You would be replacing the spacer every 3-4 yrs or so.

If you need a hook up on price let me know. The setup isn't cheap usually around $4k for the flywheel, clutch, spacers, hydraulic release bearing, etc.
