Need some thoughts/suggestions on some things.

Ok Guys, now that I have sold my GTO, I am looking at my next project being a 2nd Gen FBody. I am just starting the search for my next victim, but I have already found 1 potential car, however I am still looking. I would like yall's thoughts on a couple of things.

      1) Full Frame from someone like the Roadster Shop, or one of the other fine builders here, or the traditional front and rear sub frames with connectors.

      2) Should I look at moving the engine/trans back to get a better balance?

      3) If I end up with a Pontiac, I would like to keep it Pontiac Powered, but I would like to know what most guys are using LS wise.

      I know I want a manual trans, 5-6 I don't know yet.

      Thanks for the input guys.

What are your plans for the car? Street, autocross, track days some combination of these? What is your budget?

      Combination.

Budget is 60,000. I will be doing most of the build myself. I have my eye on a sweet 70 Formula Firebird. It already has new paint on it, but the interior is stripped(that's ok!!) and it's a roller. I just have to get the seller down in price.

Too bad you might not be interested in a slightly different project, I have a 69 Ventura, basically its slightly larger than an Fbody, more like a 70-72 Monte Carlo. Looks like a larger GTO, was ,in one ad, touted as a businessman's GTO. I have it up in the cars for sale. Good Luck on your hunt.

      Did Dave buy it? Lol

The 71 Camaro we built for Raybestos last year was pretty badass...

-Schwartz chassis w/Moser 9", 14" brakes, ridetech coilovers.
      -700hp supercharged 416ci LS3
      -T56 Magnum
      -Forgelines
      -TMI interior

It was a bit on the powerful side for autocrossing, but was still competitive.
It weighed in at 3300lbs too.

Moving the engine back would of course be ideal if you're planning on it being competitive.

Pontiacs came with LS1's and 2's. Just saying. When you start running the numbers on a Poncho engine build, you'll figure it out.

DSE front subframe/suspension + quadralink + minitub, aluminum 505" pontiac, efi, T56, floater 9". 18s and good brakes. That would be my ideal build.

Yeah, I'm fully aware of the cost of a poncho build.

We did the wiring on a '69 GTO some time back to put in an LS2 out of a newer model GTO and a basic, auto trans. It worked out very nice. Sticking with the LS2 keeps it "Pontiac powered" but gives you that great output the newer engines are so well-known for.

Don't like the color, or I would have snapped it up, as would someone else by now.

      Well guys;

The more I though about "Building another car, the more dis-enchanted i became. I put A Lot of work into my GTO, and I guess you could say I am a little burned out at the moment. It will be good to have something that I can take to the track, and not really have to work on it... (YET)

I have gone to the Mark Stielow side of the equation.....

2015 Z/28.... This thing is BADASS!!

I can't say I disagree with your decision. The 2015 Z/28 is a seriously bad a** factory car. Drive and enjoy!
