      Project: Lot Lizard

Hello, it's been along time since I've posted here but I've been busy on my project. I need a vehicle that I can beat on and not worry about wrecking or even scratching. So this might not be an extreme Budget build, but body work and paint are not a concern. Lots more pics in my photobucket too.

I bought a complete 1941 or 46 body off craigslist (no vin or title)for $150

I also found an almost finished pro street tube chassis that had been left outside for a few years when the owner died. Paid$ 200 for that off craigslist too.

I already had a 2000 5.3 that I didnt have a use for. I started mocking everything up and realized the the tube chassis would have to be cat apart way more than I thought to make it fit the cab.

Another craigslist score: 2004 c5 corvette running gear( brakes, suspension, trans and torque tube) paid $1800

The 5.3 in the pics was not the motor I used. I had a spare block sitting around.

Picked up some real 19x12 z06 wheels, eBay this time

      Another craigslist score

Rattle canned it blue just to see if I liked the color.

Sitting on rubber all the way around.

Building the mounts for the rear cradle

      Motor stand

      Rear upper control arm mounts

      eBay aluminum radiator

      Mocking up the bed

      Sweet!
The rule is measure twice and cut once. My problem is I still measure with a mic and cut with an axe!

Bought an 1 7/8 header kit

The corbeau seats are too thick and took up way too much room, so kirkey.

      Steering is mostly done

Running the tube frame through the cab

Almost there!!! Currently all that's left to do is wiring, fuel lines, exhaust, coilovers and a floor.

      Nice build!
      Cabs so small with these old trucks;
wanted to put some comfy seats in mine, & ran into same space problem you did.
and i see your bed is gonna be about as useful as mine...
Was hoping I could make one at least big enough to haul tools & slicks to the track!

I know!!! I'm tall(6'2) and the hardest part of this build is trying to setup the steering and pedals with out having my knees up to my chest.

Thanks everybody for the great feedback. Just a small update: bed is mounted and I'm now running the fuel lines. I will keep everybody updated.

That is sick! I love the ride height and how it is going so far! What will be the truck s purpose? A cruiser? autocrossing?

This is going to be AWESOME!! I love that everything is second hand or custom built, I especially like the addition of the S10 tailgate! Keep up the good work, this is going to be one killer truck!

Not much to update, the hardest part of this build so far is trying to make a working clutch/brake combo that still leaves me with enough leg room. I've tried every factory setup I can think of, Im going to have to buck up and spend some money on a race pedal setup.
