Tobin, Help! What pads to use?

A few months back you gave a suggestion on what pads to use in my car. (maverick with wilwood dynalites) I have been using the hawk black pads. Love the stopping force hate the dust. They also ate the hell out of the rotors. The pads and rotors wore out at the same rate.
You had recommended a different pad but I cant find where that was.
      Please help and thank you.

Had you tried Wilwoods BP-10s that come with their calipers before? just wondering how they compare on the Dynalites.

DTC 30 will dust like crazy until they are broken in. Once the paint has burnt on the pad back they are good to go.

yes. i had the original set of pads in these brakes for years before it got into autocrossing. I still ran them for the first 4 or 5 months of it. Then a fellow racer gave me a half used up set of some pads, i think they were ebc yellows, dont quite remember. The braking feel and difference was incredible. The dusting was a surprise but I learned to live with it. I then swapped to hawk black pads on the recommendation of anther racing brake parts manufacturer. Those were really great with the brake power, control and feel. The dusting was way worse than the previous set. They ate my rotors up at an equal rate of pad wear! The brake dust ended up bonding to my polished aluminum wheels. Im going to have to send them to the polisher to hopefully salvage them, otherwise they are going to the powder coater. I have ordered and will now try the DTC 30s with new rotors. Im fine with dusting as long as its not as narly as the hawk black pads were! Ill try to remember to put a review of them after the next autocross on december 13th.

Cool...can't wait to hear how they work for you. It's definitely an aggressive compound, but I think you'll like it if you like the Hawk Black compound.

I ran the new pads and rotors this weekend at the autocross. They worked really well. I didnt notice any significant difference in the brake performance. They dont make any noise. The black pads would make a groan or growl when they were cold and and an occasional squeal. The dusting seems less too. So far this seems like a great pad.

that is what I try to explain to new racers.....race brakes and compounds are not like your pep boys street stuff....on a race car set up ROTORS are a wear item just like pads and tires now...and they always say ...oh I understand...til they realize the have to drop 1200+ bucks on rotors and 200+ on pads at the same time for their new 5000+ dollar brake kit because they wore them out in one season

what many do are swap to less aggressive pads for daily use and then to the race pads for race weekend

well these were 33 dollar rotors and 60 dollar pads so not so bad. Its the wheels that hurt most.
