Where to mount front speaks on 69 camaro

Getting ready to install my stereo. Have looked for kick panels but no seems to make them for a 69. Anybody put them in the doors? I bought a retro sound stereo. Fit right in the hole, looks decent to. Only bummer is it doesn't have an output for the Sub.

It depends on the look (or lack of look) you want. I like to not "highlight" speakers, as they usually take away from the interior. The best place to put them without tearing holes, is under the dash firing down at the floorboards. They sound good, stay hidden, and can be removed without leaving holes. Let me know if you need more details.

How and where do you mount them tucked up underneath? Do they have a box etc?

if you are looking for something very custom that sounds better then anything out there we build custom kick panels for all cars. Here are some shots of what they look like in the car and they dont take from the interior they make it look more modern if they are done right.

here are some we are building in a 69 Camaro right now, will post done shots soon

Chris, How do these work with the e-brake pedal on the drivers side?

Very easy you just cut and move the E-brake out of the way a little, you just have to be carefull when engauging it not to hit the speaker. Or you did what I did on my car and went to a power actuated brake so you dont need the pedal anymore. I will post shots of that soon

Yeh very nice these custom made panels. Better than the roddoors panels too I think.
      But lots of work.
How many hours did I take you to make 2 panels from scratch to assembly?

Where at? I tried mounting mine in the bottom corner closest to the kick panel but apparently there's structural bracing in the door so it didn't work. -_-

      speaks in door

I mounted mine over to the left in this picture. Probably about 3-4 inchs left. Otherwise the window crank hits the speak. Looks good though. I will try to show a pic this weekend.

As long as you block off the front of the speaker from the back of the speaker. The standing waves from the rear can effect and cancel out freq of the front sound waves. Remember a freq 180 degree's out of phrase will cancel the same freq.

Kick panels are the the easiest and most people don't notice them if that's what you are trying to do, however we make one off door panels where we don't take away from the look, just make it flow and the speakers won't take away from the theme.

Have you thought about making any enclosures that make use of the volume in the vent area? I'm very tempted to place the speakers in there behind a set of non air kick panels. I think it'd camouflage the speaker very well.

Here is what the factory kick panel speaker looks like in a 69 Firebird. I think the Camaro is the same.

I cant wait to get to this point, lol. Ive done a lot of glass work on cars. This one should be fun! I would do the kicks with a custom glass sub box in the rear.

Why run front speakers? If you mount them low in the cabin, like in the front kick panels, the passenger's leg will block it for the driver and visa-versa. If you put enough power to some decent speakers in the back, you won't need front speakers at all.
