Hello and I need some advice...

I just found (in the weeds) a really solid 67 Firebird. It has had the engine replaced so it's no longer a matching numbers car. I'm looking at making it into a resto-mod. New sub-frame, disc brakes, engine, trans, the works... What I want is Old school looks with modern drivability. Can anyone recommend a subframe or at least ones to stay away from? Here are a few pics from when I pulled her out of the trees and weeds.

whoooooaaa.. thats crazy to see that get pulled out of there and get brought back to life!

      salute to that!

oh and forget that numbers matching stuff for that car unless its some UBER rare of some sort.. make it into something better than "The Creature" 's evening hotel room...

I would recommend figuring out your budget for the WHOLE project and chop it up to the parts then... subframe, brakes, rearend, and rear link setup should be a budget all to itself..

Looks like you have a project on your hands. The best advice I can offer is that you spend several months just reading the various build threads and see what the guys are doing that you like and what you don't. There are pros and cons to aftermarket subframes vs bolt on suspension kits. I will say that you will be better off working with one of the Pro-Touring.com or Lateral-G.net vendors. These vendors tend to understand the Pro-Touring build style better than some of the lesser known names.

      In no particular order:

      Chris Alston Chassisworks
      Detroit Speed
      ridetech
      Speedtech
      Art Morrison
      Schwartz
      Hotchkis

I know I'm missing some but check the vendor list on the RH side of the screen. These vendors know Pro-Touring. I suspect you have some body work to do before you are ready to make any decision on suspension vendors.

Thanks to all of you for your input. I've been busy with trying to get her cleaned up and the rotten interior removed. I'll keep you informed on my progress.
