      Wire size for gauges and dash lights??

      I'm getting ready to start wiring up my gauges. I was curious what is the proper size of wire to use. I'm thinking 14ga is about right. Not a lot of current involved. Dash lights will be all LEDs also.

      Thoughts ???

      I have used 18 gauge wire without any issue with gauges (like autometer and Dakota Digital). Never had any issues.

      Thanks. And since gauges and the bulbs inside them don't draw a lot of current I assume it's ok to run separate power and lighting circuits in series.

      I'd use 22g. You're drawing less than 3A, over a distance less than a meter, and 5% voltage loss is not an issue. 24g is actually big enough, so go to 22g for some engineering margin.

      Yeah, I ran all of the Ign and ground wires in series except for the turn signal bulbs. One time when I ran the turn signal grounds in series with the others, I would get a "windshield wiper" indication in the other gauges when the turn signals were on. I just ran those grounds to another location.
