HP Tuners can now disable PATS... so you could use the stock ECU to control the 6r80
      Finally!Thats good to know.

Hmm... I never thought about doing something like to my current truck. I've got a pretty minty 82k mile 90 F-150 that I rebuilt the 351 in. I'll be watching closely!

I like it! Ive been daydreaming for some time now about a 79 super cab 2wd with a 5.0/6r80 swap. Seems like a low mile truck take-out engine and trans with harness and everything goes for around $6k or so on ebay, which isnt bad for a pretty complete setup. Unfortunately I have way too much going on to do it, so Ill enjoy living vicariously thru you. =D

Thanks . This one has been interesting so far. The Independent Rear stuff arrived today so that's next. I have to figure out the brakes and which A/C unit to run.

Who one step closer! So it fit like a glove? with the truck engine mount? versus the coyote engine mount one.

The truck mounts ended up not working. Used 4.6 mounts. Modifying a 4.6 oil pan to fit. I'll post pics of that once completed.

      Neat project.

Which year Crown Vic front ends fit - I think it might be something like '05 and up, right?

Is that kit you used to tie it onto the trucks frame rails or something you came up with?

This is out of a 06. Used the adapters from http://team321.com/truckirs/truckirs.html

What did you end up doing for the rear lower control arm mount point? The kit doesn't show if it includes anything.

It comes with a plate that matches up with the plate on the end of the rear lower control arm. Those two pieces bolt together. Then it gets welded. We still had to box it in ourselves as it does not fit flush with the frame.

The factory 5.0 pan doesn't fit so we got a 4.6 pan and added the necessary bolt holes in the front. Other than those missing, the pan is a perfect fit.

Are you using the same vendors kit for the IRS that you did for the front?

      How are the instructions?

The engine looks pretty low in this picture. Would it have caused any problems to have mounted it higher to better clear the frame rails? It's looks like it will be tight to change the alternator and fit the exhaust.

Good clearance for the alternator and the exhaust is good now, had to make a little room on the passenger side for the exhaust but that was only because we had boxed the frame. Funny thing is, after doing the mustang I haven't even thought anything was tight on this .

Lol I hear that. That engine bay is huge. You should have plenty of room in there.
