      finally signed up

I have visited this site many times over the last few years but just to get ideas for my track day 83 Z28. I decided to sign on as this site is heavy into autox and track day racers. With the car getting closer to completion I thought I would get another set of eyes looking at it for possible short comings or safety issues. Not a lot of 3rd gens on this site and most that are, are also on thirdgen.org. I have a picture heavy build thread there called "home brew road racer" in the fabrication forum.

I set out on a very ambitious plan to "correct" most of GM's designed in deficiencies, i.e. wimpy drive trains, relatively non adjustable front and rear suspensions, and a terrible front to rear weight distribution. The car is about 70% finished with the last of the heavy fabrication work just about buttoned up. The car now has a 3 link rear suspension and coil overs, built around a 2000 S10 ZR2 rear axle, a boxed tube frame in the center of the car, and the front suspension from a 4th gen camaro hung from a custom k-member.

      The K-member

      The front suspension (almost finished)

      The rear suspension

The car is still many months from completion but with any luck should be road worthy by next summer. Let me know what you think and if there is enough interest I could post an abbreviated build thread here.

      Thanks,

      Dave
