      Ride height question

      Hi guys,
      I have a perplexing question...
This spring I put in a 700r4, C5/C4 brakes, new poly graphite bushings and moog ball joints.
The question I have is why is my car sitting 1.50" higher in the front than before I started this project?
I didn't replace the springs or anything that I could think of that would change the ride height.
      Any idea's??
      Thanks
      Bill

What bushings did you replace? Were they torqued to spec with the weight on the tires, sometimes you'll get some binding if you tighten them in the air...

I replaced the upper and lower bushings but I didn't have the engine in the car when I tightened the bushings. I put all the lube that came with them on the shafts and bushings. I'll try and loosen them up then re-torque.
      Thanks for the help

      Hey Bill,
You should be able to bounce the car up and down (unless you have adjustable shocks set on full firm)

Only stock type rubber bushings need to have the bolts tightened with the car on the ground.

I say its just good practice to do either with the suspension loaded.

Agreed. I made that mistake 3 suspensions ago.

      update

      Thanks for the advice guys!
Last night I loosened the way to tight nuts and bolts and took it for a ride. I hit every pothole and manhole cover I could find in my niehbor- hood. I let it sit over night and it actually dropped a 1/4". I’m going to disconnect the sway bar and go for another ride around the block in the rain. I also think that the shocks have something to do with it, they are the moroso 3 ways. I've had them in the car for about six or more years now and maybe there binding. If the ride around the block doesn’t work the shocks are in the trash. I've been eyeing the adjustable QA1 coil overs for a while now and this is just the excuse I need.

Bill I know a road in conn. with a lot of bumps and potholes, last time you had your pickup while we all scraped and banged!

Hope to see you and your car next spring.

The bushings are what changed so I would suspect binding. You could always disconnect the bottom shock bolts and jounce it. Maybe the sway bar is binding!

OK so it looks like I’m going to take the front end all apart again...
I loosened bolts, removed the shocks, disconnected the sway bar, bounced the front end till I just felt stupid... The suspension is traveling with no bind or noises. The only thing left to do is tear it apart and make sure its lubed up really good. I’m just bent because I loved the old ride height.

Thanks for the help guys if it works I'll let you know.

      Mr.Quick,
Yeah they are the old moroso's, I got them when I though I wanted a drag car back in the day. I never tried the 90/10 setting always 50/50.
damm I've had them for a long time.

Just out of curiosity, what do you guys prefer, good shocks and dropped springs or adjustable coil-overs? If this last ditch effort doesn't work I'll have to make a switch. I'll be dammed if my car is going to look like this for much longer.

one more thing to check is if the spring is in its pockets properly? the end of the lower spring should be in between the two drilled holes in the lower arm.

Are the springs seated the same as when you pulled them? If they aren't seated the same, that could do it.

      MrQuick beat me to it.

I was just going to ask my friend to borrow his spring compressor again to give that a try.
