sounds like he can make a tank the exhaust goes through huh?
If you plan on driving that car on something like Power Tour, I would highly recommend avoiding running the exhaust thru or near the fuel tank. We had quite a few cars overheat during those long traffic periods in 95F temps, due to boiling the fuel in the tank and causing the pumps to burn up. That fiberglass Year One Nova (the gold one) went thru 3 fuel pumps that trip, due to the exhaust running too close to the pump and tank, and us getting stuck in traffic.

Frank, the roads thru FL to TX are wide open. I made the trip from Houston to Mobile, AL twice in the last three weeks. There are hotels in Mobile, as well as Baton Rouge, and Lafayette LA. East TX (Beaumont) and West LA (Lake Charles) are still screwed up though, but Houston should also have plenty of hotels by Friday. Even if the Astros manage to win the next three in a row in Houston, they fly out Friday back to Chicago, so hotels will be empty again.

      Tony,
What is the diesel situation? I have heard shortages out your way. Just wondering as we are leaving Thursday morning and will be traveling I 40 all the way.

Diesel is fine here in OK except for price. $2.09 for gas, 3.09 for diesel. Let me know when you are comin thru OKC coming or going. I would love to see the GTO done.

I dont think there are very many people in here that saw how bad this car was. I believe this is the car that he posted pics of in a thread of "inspiration" and it was barely a car once all the old bad metal was removed.
Absolutely awesome job Frank. Prodigy has come a long way. And I thought our 67 mustang was in bad shape! '
I really wish I could hear how those exhaust pipes sounded. If I run my full exhaust and its not loud enough then I will need louder mufflers (currently flowmaster 40 series) and I might consider going the same route as you. The exhaust is what I am currently on and I hope it will be loud enough with full exhaust out the back.
Do you have a heat shield where the exhaust notches are? Just wondering.
Damn that thing is a beautiful work of engineering!

Thanks Mike, that is cheap, it is $3.13 here. I will probably be thru there sometime Friday, pm me your cell again, and I will call on the way thru, traffic sucks there anyway and we will be taking the south bypass.

I do not advise making a tank that the Exhaust runs through. However we can make a tank that goes around the exhaust aslong as it’s not completely surrounded. Also when sitting in a stagnant environment such as traffic for a long period of time in hot 90+ weather you might want to run a speed controller for the fuel pump. On the year One car if my memory serves me correctly it has a poly cell in it with an external fuel pump. Having the pump mounted in the tank helps cool it and can minimize premature death to the pump.
