"Well as you can see from the attached pictures the guys at Muscle Motorsports have been working overtime to get the chassis sorted out. I have to say when you have the right people working on the job things go much smoother and the end results are 10 times more satisfying. I am extremely pleased with the knowledge, experience, professionalism and technical abilities that Adam and his crew at Muscle Motorsports have exhibited during the entire build up of the NASCAR chassis."

Those guys are great. They helped me out a bunch when it came time to buy the rear end for my car. The full-floating hubs are nice, but can the Nascar size studs and bolt pattern can be hard to find wheels for. I had to go through 2 sets with Fikse before I had to go to a tapered Chrysler stud that had the same size knurl as the hub. Good Luck with the rest of your project.

      Hey guys,

Just catching up on some questions that were asked:

      Q. Robert/Scogin918: What rear end are you guys using?
      A. Going with the Ford 9" and 3:55 gears to start.

Q.kmcanally: Are you going to run the bb as shown in the pics? If so how will it be built?
      A. Yep, staying with the rat motor. Was originally dynoed at 619HP with the Weiand high rise intake and 950HP Holley, but we are now going with a "low-rise" intake to incorporate the air cleaner. Gotta imagine we will lose 100+ HP with the intake swap. The motor is built to the hilt, ported and polished heads, big valves, big cam, big compression (11:1 I think)........last of the LS7s'.

Q.boodlefoof: Any idea what the final weight on the car is going to be?
      A. I believe all Cup cars weigh in the same at 3400 lbs. I gotta imagine I will be a little heavier than that considering all the beef in the Camaro body. Will do an acurrate weigh in when car is done.

Q.shortrack: what are you going to do for an e-brake??.......wiring harness??
      A. For now we will be using a basic Painless Wire setup. As far as the e-brake, no intentions as of yet, might just drive around with a cinder block in the trunk (just kidding).

We are using a 3.64. We'll see how it behaves with the T-56 before bringing it up (numerically that is). As far as the E-brake you could always go with the one for the driveshaft. Are you doing a differential fluid cooler? My yoke has the groove for the belt, but I haven't decided yet.

We are going to use the external mounted rear end cooling pump. Should be a cool addition to the many race car aspects of the Camaro.

It is so nice to see the chassis on four wheels! As you can see most of the chassis fabrication is complete and bolt on parts have been test fitted. Still a few odds and ends to complete fabrication wise like the custom exhaust, battery boxes, etc. Should be taking everything apart within the next few weeks and ship the chassis off to paint while parts get plated and powder coated. The chassis is going to look super awesome after everything is in color and assembled.

Edit: It was late when I read the thread and my brain wasn't working well... at first I thought you were asking me what I estimated the weight would be on my project (around 2000-2200 pounds).

If you're building a full-frame, you can really drop a lot of weight by cutting out much of the Camaro's uni-body structure. You don't need all of the extra beef to resist twisting since the frame will be doing that. All you need is enough support to keep the body solidly attached to the new frame. With my Z project, the only uni-body structure that will remain is support around the rear window channel. While the frame will weigh around 325 pounds, I'm probably dropping about 200 pounds in structural sheetmetal.

Im not worried about actually using the e brake to hold the car......leaving it in gear will suffice anywhere I will ever park it......... but up here I will need an e brake to certify the car for street use.......(I was thinking about a roll control/ line lock) along with fore/aft adjustment of drivers seat and a couple of other stupid things.....

The Camaro is close to done with all fabrication and test fitting. The entire chassis is fully mocked up with the NASCAR parts and the body has been sorted out with the new cage setup. Nice to finally see it again on all four wheels!

For the now the Camaro will ride on these:
      B.F. Goodrich G-Force KDW - 245/40/18 Front & 275/35/20 Rear
Wheel Vintiques Billet Ralley Wheels - 18"x8" Front & 20"x9.5" Rear

For track days, some car shows, and whenever I can get away with them on the street, I will be putting on a wider front and rear wheel setup using the NASCAR Aero wheels in black with wide-as-can-be Goodyear racing tires. Trying to sort out tire and wheel sizes now.
