Scott...........I just went through all 12 pages of your thread. My car just had a 6 page feature in Chevy High Performance, and then I see a build like yours.......OMG, how small and insignificant I feel ... LOL sheesh

This car is in another galaxy compared to the most builds. One-off, unique, trend-setting, cutting edge, state of the art car building....I ran out of descriptions, man. I can't wait to see this masterpiece in it's completed state!!!!! WOW

Its been a mission but we are getting there!

The body assembly started a few weeks ago.

We got the headliner in, the rear power windows and tracks in, all of the interior wiring, etc. in...........very close to lifting the body onto the chassis. Have to do all of the weather stripping and "crush panels" that close the gap between the body and chassis. Fortunately all of the panels were pre-made and pre-fit prior to paint so installation should be easier.

Once the body is squared away and all of the mounts are secure we will be hanging the doors and all the front sheetmetal.

Still have all of the exterior hood gauges to go (6 of em'), the fire system, the window net, the carpeting, the Lexan windows, the fuel filler connection, the RS hideaway light system (have the DSE system - nice parts), the door panels and seats (seats already upholstered), the spoilers, and all of the exterior trim which is not much since there are no drip rails or door handles. Oh yeah still have to install the door and trunk poppers as well.

A little bit of a laundry list of items to go, but all manageable. Nice to know whatever part we put on it is for the "last time" and the end is near. Purposely not rushing to get it done as we do not want any errors and do not plan to drive it until the weather is better here (i.e. - spring time) but look forward to doing some shake-down runs during the winter.

Its been a long road traveled building this sucker, but there is finally light at the end of the tunnel!

So far not too many obstacles in the assembly process...............just painfully time consuming.............all the details and such...............no time to be cutting corners now so all the "little things" are getting attention now (i.e. - the vent windows looked good, but not great, sent them out to be re-chromed - stuff like that).

You guys are gonna think I am crazy but I bought one of those train horns from "Horn Blasters" and want to install it....................problem is the horns are so freaking big I have no space under the car for it!! Hopefully I will not have to mount it in the now wide open back seat area!



Horn explanation: Every hot rod I have had never had a horn or had one that was lame. As you know your finished baby becomes a target for every goof ball pulling out of a side street or riding next to you to give a thumbs up as he sways into your lane...........I want to have the loudest sonna of a be-atch horn possible to fend off any possible "accidents". Call me crazy.

One of the funniest ones was where they got pulled over in the Merc Marauder by a officer and right when he walks up to the nose of the car they "blast" him. The officer was not amused.

Every time I watch those Horn Blaster videos I laugh my a** off!

Yeah, the video I attached is that one... When you get to the end of it the cop pulls them over because he's not using his blinkers... He asks him to operate them to verify they are in working order... when he gets to the front of the car, they BLAST him and he doesn't look too happy... I just wish the passenger would have kept the video going so we could see what happens next!! He had the camera hidden when the cop came to the driver's window.

They also get busted for the tint on the windows! I would have hated to pay those fines!

I SURE would like to see a video of your car running so I could listen to your boom tubes... You said they were loud... I'd like to hear them...

I plan on running Spintech Mufflers with Boom Tubes on my car and I would REALLY like to hear how they sound...

I like those horns!! can you fit them vertically behind the headlights? If you angle them, the sound bounces off the ground pretty well. I don't think you need to worry about losing any of the effect....LOL
I know they are probably 20" long, and about 12" wide (?) you could even separate them a little if it helps the packaging.
I have air horns in every car I have owned, no better satisfaction than to give an earfull to those careless drivers!
Now everybody has a damn phone in their ear.... FFUUU-WHAAAAAaaaaaa! pay attention! coming through!
Correction: those look like 9" floor tiles...them are some BIG horns. 15"x 22" (?)

Hey Guys -

We are making some progress with the Camaro. The doors are now on and all of the sheetmetal is at the shop for installation.

My body guy took a "long time" (body shop taking a long time?.....sound familiar everyone?) but for a reason. He is a paint manager for a Cup Team and has been clobbered recently working much overtime.....so my project took that much longer. I really don't care how long it takes as long as the finished product is at the level I want....which it is. I cannot be happier with the work so far and will always say that quality is much better than quantity.

Anyhow we have been busy working on any and everything else on the car. The fuel system is 100%, the headliner is in, the power windows and door poppers have been installed and we worked through some fitment issues with the body at the firewall where the cowl was interfering with the brake and clutch reservoirs. Many other areas of assembly have been tackled but more to go. You can't believe how many "little" details pop up during final assembly, but we are taking our time and doing it "right" the first time.
