      Wheel scavenger hunt!!!

ok guys, here's the deal. I love the general feel and look that factory snowflakes give late second gen birds, but I never thought they would look right on a formula...then I found a shot of one very very similar to mine, with snowflakes. Now I can't decide.

first, do you guys like the rally 2 look better, or the snowflake look better?

second, I need everybody to help me to find a plus-size wheel that has the same approximate feel as the snowflakes. they don't have to be exact replicas- I'm just looking for something that, when installed, would look a lot like a "modern snowflake"

BBS? They have a few different options... This is one I like.

see I initally thought "BBS" style too...but I was hoping somebody could help me find a wheel that more closely mimics the snowflake's sloped-in-toward-the-center spokes...

That sloped in look is going to be hard to find.

Have you considered the GTA style third gen wheels? They are only 16 inch, but are a lot cheaper then BBS.

Are they 8" rims? Do the tires rub at all?

You may want to check out the HP Evos.

Here is a nice comparison between the Evos and Snowflakes. Pretty close.

I was planning on building a Bandit and one time and actually found that Boyd makes a wheel in his Forged line that really looks close. With some gold paint it would be nice alternative and they come in modern sizes.

Those look like the closest so far but they still dont slope in like he wants. Wonder if there is a way you could get them gold played in the center or anodized. SO much technology in the world there has to be a way to get the exact wheel you want.

im wondering if somone could mill the concave into the wheels. Like on a lathe or CNC machine or something. Theres alot of matierial in some of those wheels.

You could always get Foose to custom design you a set for about 15,000 bucks

Those are the wheels. Call Boyd's they usually are pretty accomadating. I had already asked about reversing the centers. Anything can be done with the right amount of money. Those rims as is painted gold accents are very close.

I think the hardest part will be finding a wheel that mimics the depth of the spokes on the snowflake wheels. Take a close look and you will find that the spokes are thin and deep. To duplicate that in billet, you would have to start out with a piece of aluminum close to three inches thick. OK, maybe just two inches.

as far as the evos go...they look too organic to me. the spokes have got to be really sharp and angular.
the billet wheels are close as far as the spoke shape, but as previously mentioned they're just too skinny looking.

the bbs's on the first gen are definately hot...but too organic and don't have any lip.

ccw classics, although almost completely different in look, kinda have the same feel to me...really heavy and precise. I like them a lot, and am thinking about asking them if they can do a black/gold anodized combo for me.

you guys are awesome though, coming up with stuff i'd never think of in a million years.

actually if you look closer at the boyd's they are sort of concave. i think the angle of the pics makes it look flat but it's really not

if you look closely there is a shadow on the left side of wheel center and also the left side of the spokes as well. may not be much depth to it but definitely isn't flat
