      59 LS1 Impala update

We are progressing along on our 2 door 59 Impala LS1 project. The car is now completely torn down, de-trimmed and sent out for polishing/anodizing. Next, its going on the rotisserie, so I can get the floors cleaned up, and painted.

In retrospect, I would have started with a less nice car.

Here is a short list of modifications:
      -Powdercoated Frame
      -Complete air ride
      -13" Wilwood fronts
      -12" Wilwood rears
      -Currie 9" w/3.55 gear
      -605 Power steering conversion
      -Griffin Radiator
      -370" LS1 Iron block
      -4L80E Trans
-Big Stuff 3 engine engine management
      -Twin Turbo
      -Intro 18" wheels
      -Original painted undercarriage
      -Stock exterior and paint scheme
      -Stock interior

      Tom,

Looks very nice, how does it sit with the bags on it???? Will it lay frame? Also were there any clearance issues with 18x10's?

Not sure yet. Still waiting on the Nittos, so the new frame is on jackstands, and the wheels are still in the box.

Wow I had heard Nitto had some tires on back order....you have been waiting on them for awhile now! That is going to be a killer project when finished...any idea on a completion date Tom?

Hoping to have the body back on the fresh frame, with painted undercarriage in November some time, and the interior, exterior trim shortly after. I guess I should just say that by the first of the year, I hope to have all cosmetics done, as well as the motor/trans air ride, and fuel system done. That would give us 8 weeks to design, and build the turbo system, and put the front clip back on, with a 4 week cushion. I want this thing on the road by early spring.

Looks good so far, Tom. This thing is going to be awesome when complete.

I like this pic, it's a good visual comparsion of what is and isn't pro-touring:

Haha, I have a original set of Doug Thorly LT headers for the Impala(?) frame...

370 LS1 Iron block... So is that the 6.0L block with 5.7l crank, rods, and 6.0l pistons?

The 5.7 and 6.0 motors share the same 3.622 stroke. THe 6.0 crank isnt gun drilled, and we use these in boosted applications. We have taken them to 1000 FWHP witout a failure.

      So 3.622 stroke, 4.030 bore = 369.61"

      Isn't the stock 6.0l 364ci?

      Yes, 3.622 stroke x 4.00 bore = 364.21"

We run the stock crank, stock 6.0 iron block, with forged rods and pistons.

I will have an in-car boost controller, so on 93 octane, and roughly 10# of boost, we should make 600RWHP, and with 100 octane and 13-14#, we should be over 700RWHP. I doubt I ever will, but if I ever decide to put C16 in it, I would guess 850+RWHP.

This is the unit we use:

      Tom,
Very cool project. Has the chassis been reinforced? I have the same style X-frame under my 65 Rivi and I always wonder about frame twist with big power. Does that car use a two-piece driveshaft? If so, are you keeping that design?

      Show us the wheels, please
