      Wire size for Alternator

      What size wire should I run off my 140amp alternator to the battery? 4 awg?

      4 gauge should work. That is what I am running on my 160 amp alternator.

      Unless its relocated to the rear, there's no need for such a large charge wire directly off the alternator to the battery. A better option is a remote junction with the 4ga supply from the alternator. Then, run a 10ga from junction to battery for charging. All other accessories/relay banks, etc. as well as your remote voltage sense wire run off that same junction as well. Hopefully this isnt a 1-wire alternator you're using.....?
