Comments/Help on Suspension Plan - 72 Camaro

I also posted some of this in the open section, but figure I'll probably get more help here too.

I just bought a 72 and am planning on doing the below suspension. Anyone with experience please let me know if this is a bad plan, etc. I'm on a somewhat limited budget (as I'm doing a tranny swap, wheels, etc as well). My goal is something that is a decent/fun handling street car, and capable of an occiasional track day. Power is a 355 making around 400 hp. I'm also going w/ a Wilwood 4 piston brake upgrade as the current discs up front seem beyond worthless.

I'm going to run 18x8/19x10 Rushforths, probably 255 fronts 285 rears? Any better options on tire size?

Would I benefit greatly by a speedtech sway bar kit? I'm also going to change the steering box to a reman IROC one, I believe this is the correct one: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aaz-27-6550

So beyond the TKO600 and a some morris belts I just bought, is there anything else that would be a must have? Any better way to do the suspension for less money, about $2500?

Are you going to run leafs for a long time or are eventually going to upgrade those? I would look back at some old posts about Mary Pozzi's car. She had an early Camaro on GW or Hotchkis leafs. I have emailed her directly in the past and either she or David gave me the run down on all of the leaf options and front suspension options. She was extremely fast on leafs and her car sat right. She now has a link style suspension.

That is one of the things actually that led me to go w the leafs to save money. I suspect I'll be the limiting factor far before the springs so other than "cool factor" no reason to go w/ the ridetech rear 4 link like was my original plan. Saves me quite a bit of money to spend elsewhere.

Sounds like a decent plan to me.. You'll definitely want a bigger sway bar. SpeedTech, Hellwig, Hotchkis, etc any of them are good.

Thanks for the feedback. That might have to go on later to spread budget. I expect I won't be outdriving it too soon on the street mostly.

I have about the same set up on my 73 camaro. ridetech control arms with RQ coilovers, Hotchkis leafs, and soon to be RQ shocks. Im running stock sway bar at this time but I too am looking at the same ones you are. I just started putting on the ridetech stuff and I should be done in a couple of days as Im pretty busy. Pretty easy set up so far I did the passenger side and it took about 3 hrs to take all the old stuff off and put the new stuff on. The upper spring pocket needed to be grinded/cut down as it would hit the top of the spring. I have 19x8 and 19x10 Boze wheels with 245/35/19 and 295/30/19 Pilot SS. They fit great in the back with the BFH mod. If I could do it again I would have gone 19x9 in the front and Im still thinking about widening them.
