1968 Camaro Leaf Spring Help Needed

      Hi to everyone,

I have a 1968 camaro with minor suspension work done (SPC upper control arms, Hellwig sway bars front and rear, all poly bushings, and chassisworks SS shocks). Just got the MOOG #5536 (488 lb/in), but the springs will have to be cut yielding about 525 lb/in. Because of this upcoming mod to the suspension, I need to get stiffer rear leaf springs to match, approximately 200-225 lb/in. I have been unsuccessful in finding a 200-225 lb/in (per David Pozzzi) set of leaf springs for a 67-69 camaro with less than 6" of true arch (I need about 1.5"-2" for a 2"-2.5" drop) of true arch.

Have any of y'all had any luck with this? I thought about getting a leaf spring shop to de-arch the ~200 lb/in springs from 6-3/8" to 1.5" but I am unsure as to if that's a good idea. I think the springs i found are dirt track springs to allow for more travel. The springs I'm looking at are the AFCO # 20228HDRF , AFCO # 20228HD , or Speedway
      # 91721342.

Thank you in advance for your help, pro-touring.com never fails!

Back when I still had leaf-springs in my 68, Eaton-Detroit Spring could make you just about anything you wanted for a decent price.

I recently put together my 69 Z28 [all original car] with a 2" drop leafspring from Detroit Eaton Spring. I also used our 2" "tall" dropped spindle in front with a 1" taller coilspring, our HQ adjustable shocks, larger swaybar, and built a set of delrin bushings for the control arms. I have to say the car drives like a million bucks. It has a set of 15x8 magnesium Minilite wheels with some OLD Goodyear white letter radial tires...It does not have the ultimate cornering ability of our 48 Hour Camaro, but with the high winding 302 and 4 speed...it sure is a smile machine! The stance, handling and ride quality are perfect for a cruiser. Almost makes me want to put together a package like this...

Thanks guys, I'll have to give EATON a call. Do any of you recall what the spring rate and true arch was for the springs you used/have used? If not I'll have determine the spring load in the rear so I can see how much the spring will settle to obtain the desired ride height.
