New guy with Fuel Injected Vega

Hello everyone. I am the owner of a 72 Chevy Vega. Originally 4 cylinder. Swapped in a 383 stroker. Then a 350. And finally the 2004 5.3l mated to a 2009 4l80e. Still need to put a harness together for it to tune it and fire it up. I was driving the car in its original equipment (suspension and chassis wise) until I decided to turbo the 5.3. I stripped it all apart to a bare shell. Braced it. Gutted it cut out the floor and all the suspension. I know have a full frame and have built a 3 link for the rear suspension. In the process of fabbing a watts link for it. Then I can finally do a gas tank. Weld the rest of the floor sheetmetal. Hopefully it will see the streets soon!!!

Currently seeking info on the watts link I need to build. So any input is appreciated. I will start another thread about the watts link.

great site and I look forward to learning lots from you guys!

Welcome. I love Vegas and wish I had kept one of the Vegas I have owned over the years.

The coolest Watts link I have seen is on the Hellboy No Limit C10. Look here: https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/...imit-C10/page6

It is very well executed and provides a very low roll center, which you may want on a car as low as a Vega.

Thanks! It's a fun little car for sure. I took a look at the c10 real quality build very well done. I have always wondered about the watts link positioned like that but could never really understand how it would operate on a street car seems to me like the arms would bind at some point during the suspension travel. But looks like it's being done and it works!

Very cool, need to see pics! Probably a little more drivable than my 11 second 75 Astre GT with a 406. Fun car, but it's almost like work driving it, haha.

I miss our 5.3 Vega.. It was very fun, and an autocross machine for being so basic. We did a 4 link on it, KYB's, sway bars.. And stitch welded the heck out of the unibody!! Don't forget to do that.. It's necessary if you do any performance driving.

That little vega that was in hotrod mag was the reason I went with a 5.3 for my car. I know it was supposed to be a low budget thing but you could have fooled me that thing is immaculate! Made mine full frame and 3 link rear suspension.
