      Builder suggestion for general work

Hi all...been a long time since I posted and havent kept up with the pulse of things. Im currently living in England and it looks like Ill be staying for quite some time. With that in mind Id like to get my Firebird sorted and shipped over here...its doing no good sitting in a garage stateside.

So...Im looking for any suggestions of a good all around shop that can handle different jobs. The last time I drove it half the gauge lights went off, and it doesnt hold 12v at idle so the 40+ year old wiring harness needs replacing. At the same time Id like to get work done that would be too expensive or there simply arent the parts or common know for here such as installing minitubs, swapping the automatic to a manual, refreshing the Pontiac 455 etc.

So basically Im looking for an all around shop that is serious and wont keep the car in project hell for years. Ideally something in Florida would be perfect since the car will need to be shipped to the shop but Im willing to look at shops in other places. Ive enquired at Detroit Speed but it seems like they are packed for at least 6 months and they arent the most inexpensive around.

      Any suggestions??

      Manny,

You also may want to check import rules for the UK. Not sure if they are as strict as AU or Germany...

Thanks for that Jeff...have you had any work done there yourself?

Ive already looked at that...its a 73 so there basically are no rules. Dont even pay yearly registration tax on it. Plus this car has already been in Europe back when it was my dads.

Keep II Much Fabrication in mind too. Located near Orlando FL.

Hi John...well thats a surprise! I wasnt aware you did builds, just parts. Well...besides your own builds. I followed II Much and, if I had the budget, I would mirror mine exactly along those lines! Ill drop you a line with details as well.

I sure do, but just one at a time. My current build should be complete in May or June:

I honestly can't say enought good things about the guys out at Fesler

Great to hear...they are definitively on my list! I have to put together a detailed work list to send out and go from there. The decision at this point is seeing what can be done here in England later on (probably all exterior sheet metal mods) and what is a must to have a drivable car right off the bat when it comes off the boat.

I had completely forgotten theres also this place http://www.transamflorida.com which is not far at all from where my car is parked. It looks like they do straight restorations but perhaps they can do the engine refresh. Anyone stopped by their shop or worked with them?
