New Holley 302-2 oil pan now available

To anyone interested, I'm pleased to report that the new Holley 302-2 oil pan is now released and available for purchase. You can contact any reseller of Holley parts to inquire about the ability to purchase this new part or visit the Holley website to find it available to you.

Other than the external sump depth being 3/16" higher than the current Holley pan, it would be hard to say how the new Holley pan would be considered "better" than the existing pan, if you don't need the extra clearance benefits that the new Holley pan geometry provides.

The existing pan provides capabilites that the new pan does not, such as the ability to run any LS windage tray and accomodate stroker crankshafts for custom engine builds.

Due to its maximum clearance design, the new pan requires the use of an LS1 windage tray and was specifically designed to provide increased clearance over the existing pan in applications that won't allow it to be used in a bolt-in manner without making negative compromises to the installed geometry of certain LS swap engine and transmission combinations.

1st-gen F-body/3rd-gen Nova LS swaps will be the first applications to directly benefit from this new pan as it will allow you to install the engine/trans low enough in the subframe to acheive proper engine inclination/U-joint working angles and also eliminate the usual clearance issues encountered between the steering system inner tie rod ends and the oil pan without having to restort to running a notched 4th-gen F-body pan with reduced oil capacity, or having to cram the engine tight up against the firewall to get enough tie rod clearance around the sump of an unmodified 4th-gen F-body pan.

Other known problematic applications such as A-body LS swaps that also suffer with inner tie rod end contact with the oil pan on full-lock steer will also see improvements with this pan.

The list of applications will grow, but the new pan is intended to be offered side by side with the existing pan to provide more fitment options to the end user.

I ordered mine directly from Holley last week. Any idea when they will start shipping? When I placed my order, I was told it was in the system but the person that took my order wasn't sure when it would actually be available.

I couldn't say for sure as I work in Engineering, but since they are on the shelf I wouldn't expect much time lapse before being shipped out.

yeah would like to know too. I can't turn my wheel all the way cause of the tierods. Makes for a lot of reverse drive reverse back to drive, when backing out. I'll probably be leaving my car alone for awhile while unitil I finish school though anyway. So holley has two years to get this done lol.

Summit has them but in back order.

Holley had a small batch done and sold within a few days. I hope this coming manufacturing batch they make more than before.

Guy's, I'm showing a build date of Next Thursday 2/20/14. If you haven't ordered it yet, feel free to contact me for pricing. I've been through this many times with EFI products. Anytime something is new, you will have back orders. Eventually they will get caught up, and supply will be greater than demand. Just the way it goes.

I would like to know that as well because i have speedtech subframe which utilizes unisteer rack and pinion. Because of the clearance issues with Melodon oil pan, the mounting points at unisteer rack and pinion was modified a bit in order not to hit the pan. I wish speedtech used a better rack and pinion with their subframe. In addition to the fitment issues, it leaks big time
