G Body Steering box upgrade-Using a GTA steering box



Looking to upgrade to a 10:1 Steering box about 1:7 turns lock to lock, what are my options????

IIRC the 3rd gen GTA uses the same 12.7 ratio saginaw box as the Monte SS (12.7.1), later GTA are 4th gen and have rack & pinion, I'm unsure about their ratio.

The 12.7:1 is about 2 2/3 turns lock-to-lock.
Lee performance makes a fantastic upgrade with the 670 series box with improved valving, a great upgrade even from the same ratio Monte SS box, the feel and response is several steps up.

SC and C offers some from Turn One brand in 12:1 and 10:1 ratio, the 10:1 fetches a premium:

What is the best way to calculate the bump stops in the steering box, should I assemble everything, with the old GTA box?? Then see how much clearance I have?? I will be running 275/30/19 Tires with 19x9 wheels

I have been trying to get ahold of Lee Mfg to buy the adapters for the lines to convert to an IROC box. I hope I can still get them!

I did get a hold of them today to see how much the adapters were. 6.00 each and approx 5.00 shipping BTW. He was real nice and helpful. I should have just ordered them but will probably just call back Monday.
