67 camaro headlight & running light question

On the stock 67 camaro, the headlights and running lights/turn signals won't both come on at the same Time.. If you pull the switch out once the running lights come on, and if you pull it out again the running lights go off and the headlights turn on.. Anyone know how to make it so they both will run at the same time??

I was going to modify mine to do the same once but never got around to it. I did however find this description of how to do it.

Remove the wire connector from the headlight switch in the dash. The front parking light wire in this plastic clip is the lone wire at the back of the clip (closest to the firewall). Depress the tang that holds that wire in the clip and relocate that wire to the very front end of the wiring clip (which is the slot closest to the back of the dash and will be the only open slot anyway). Then reinstall the wiring connector back to your headlight switch.
Tada! Your front parking lights will now sync up with your headlights.

I looked under the dash a while back and noticed that.. I was going to rewrite it all but just like you j never got around to it.. I just really like that look when they both are on.. ��

I installed a Painless wiring kit into a 68 Camaro, and noticed the park lights operated like a 67. This used a factory light switch and plug, so it should apply to the original harness. But yeah, get your test light out to verify, but there should be an empty terminal slot that gets power with both park lights and head lights, just move the forward park light harness feed wire to the empty slot, and it should work. I don't recall the wire color off hand, but using the test light, it should be the only wire that has power with the park lights, but goes out with the headlights.

I looked into new a new wore harness and even looked into a 68 headlight switch thinking maybe hat would do the trick because I believe those both run the same time.. I'll check into it and post up what I find..

I switched the wires on my headlight switch so the headlights and parking light both are on. I found out how on a GTO forum. I have a picture somewhere, I'll see if I can find it and post it later. Basically you move the parking light wire on the headlight switch to the empty terminal that is bussed to the tail lights.

Here are the pictures I promised. You have to move the purple wire in the headlight switch plug to the empty socket as seen in the pictures. These are not my pictures, I borrowed them from a GTO forum, but they show what needs to be done. In the second pic you see the terminal you're moving it to, is connected to another terminal that powers the brown taillight wire.

Make this simple wire change and your front parking lights will stay on when the headlights are on. I was able to reach under the dash, remove the plug, and make the wire change in less than twenty minutes. This all assumes you have factory wire harness.

Just my opinion, but BOTH.

I think it looks better to have the parking lights on in addition to the headlights. All modern cars are that way also.

Safety wise, if a headlight burns out I still have a parking light to illuminate that side and nobody will mistake me for a motorcycle. Also with four lights up front hopefully I'll get seen better at night, too many distracted morons on the road nowadays.

I did this on my 67 rs/ss Camaro. Took five minutes and working great.
