      A little help please......

I have the chance to to purchase an 04 CTS-V engine and trans (5.7/6sp) with 130k miles on the clock can someone chime in and give me a "ball park" figure of what a setup like this would go for? the motor is still in the car I can hear it run, no mods bone stock comes with EVERYTHING, Thinking of putting it into my wagon, Thanks in advance.

The problem with the CTS-V setup is that the trans doesn't have a slip yoke because the Cadillac is IRS. You can buy parts to convert the trans to a slip yoke, but it's not cheap. Last I looked the only other option was a $1000+ drive shaft. I almost had the same setup for my car.

No problem. It sucks about the trans, I remember reading that the CTS-V trans was better than the F-Body trans, I think it had triple cone syncros vs. dual cone or something like that. It could be made to work, but, unless things have changed it isn't super cheap.

Here's a good read. he has a parts list at the bottom to convert the trans

Frank at drive shaft services will make you a drive shaft that'll work. We do this all the time for the dodge lx n lc models when going to a 8.8 conversion.

Oh ok so there is a small glimmer of hope , I guess the question comes down to the cost of the driveshaft, maybe that might noe be in the budget but from what Wallace says the transmission has some positives over the F-body manual.

Not sure if that will be feasible because I have to look into the shipping of the drive shaft from GA to Ca..........

Well two things, first Frank builds these things to handle some major HP, and with that they ain't cheap. But shipping isn't too bad. One thing about it, you'll never break the damn thing. I also have a local guy that could do it in San Bernardino, but I'd suggest the extra coin with Frank. Hopefully it's within your budget. If not, send me a pm and I'll get you a number for this guy out here.

LXCam thank you I will PM you once I negotiate a price for the setup, if it is feasible for the entire drivetrain if it makes since. again thank you for all that chimed in!!!

All though not what we're discussing, it's a great example of his work. This is for a build I'm expecting somewhere between 1400-1600 at the wheels. I have no doubts we'll bust something else before taking out this driveshaft..lol.
