1971/2001 Firebird painted
We finally got the shell painted last weekend and more stuff will be done tomorrow. The paint job turned out super sweet! The hundreds of hours of prep work really paid off. You can see the reflections so well without the clear coat being wet sanded and buffed yet. We also got the sound deadener laid, power windows and door poppers installed, the 2001 TA heater core is bolted down for the last time, and extensions have been made for the air ducting in the 2001 dash. Painting the shell has really been a HUGE hurdle for us to jump over. After that, everything will be bolted in for the last time! Man, that's such a great feeling.

10-16-2005 #5Once all of the painting is done, our next step is to modify the subframe to fit the 2001 steering rack and cut out a notch for the heat core to fit. We originally wanted to use a quick ratio steering box, but a real nice one will cost about the same to modify the subframe for a rack! While that is being done, we'll tackle the wiring job by putting in the 2001 wiring harness (picture, minus the engine wiring harness) since we'll basically have all the 2001 TA sensors, etc. Hope it's easy as it sounds...
