Morris driving lights for 1969 Camaro

I'm installing the Morris driving lights in my 1969 Camaro and I'm a little confused by their suggested wiring schematic for the turn signals/running lights. They suggest using 2 relays to power the turn signals. The relays are normally closed, thereby providing running lights any time the ignition is on. The conventional turn signal wires (dark blue and light blue) are connected to the control inputs of the two relays, thereby periodically opening the relays briefly when the turn signal is activated.
I don't want to use the turn signals as running lights, so I could just use the normally open relay connection to drive the lights and the lights will normally be off, but will still flash when the turn signals are activated. However, why run a relay at all (if I don't want running lights)? Can't I just use the dark blue and light blue wires to drive the turn signal bulbs? They're not a high current draw, right?
