School Me on Torque Converters

Trying to grasp what to look for in torque converters. Specs to look for, what makes a quality converter, and, since one of my engines will be turbo, what is different in a converter for turbos vs NA.

First, let me say that I am not an expert on this subject. However, I have had several transmissions built by Art Carr. Art use to be a Hydralic Engineer for Hydra-Matic at GM back in the days. Art told me that "Stall" isn't your most important factor when it comes to Torque Converters. Its important but, he said that the "K" Factor was the most important. He lost me at that point. I just had confidence that he would always build me the best torque converter and he did. He told me that in designing a torque converter, he would need to know where do you want the torque band to be. The rear diff gear ratio, Cam, and the type of racing you do are important factors that he needs to know.

The trick now is find someone that can and will build you a custom spec torque converter that is right for your ride and for the type of driving you intend to do.

I don't have a great deal of background in this area either but can point you in a good direction. Call the guy at Yank converters. Can't remember his name offhand but he is very knowledgeable and will spec one out for you with the above considerations. They are regarded as one of the best out there.

Seems to be a black art of sorts. I've read some decent articles in the past, but I'm hoping to get deep in the "know". Like everything, it's simple until you try to learn more, then you realize it's insanely intense.
