How much should I budget for a 12-bolt

OK it's time to start throwing my extra change in a jar for a new 12-bolt for my (soon to be minitubbed) 67. What type of $$$ am I looking at for a narrowed 12-bolt from Moser or others? Of course it needs all the good stuff (axles, posi, c-clip elim). $2000, $3000, more???

Along the same lines - what's my original 12-bolt worth? It's got 4.56 gears, Strange axles with C-clip elim. Haven't opened it up to check what spline axles or type of posi but it's a stout set up from an X drag car. The rear still has the traction bar mount welded on.

Friend bought a Moser 12 bolt a year ago...total cost with shipping was $2400.
You could narrow and revamp with Moser big ford bearing ends on your original rear for around a grand...cheaper if you can shorten and reuse them Strange axles. You can also rebuild that posi unit and run 4.10's or space out a 3.55 gear set. That put you around 12. Even cheaper if you where closer to me...

      Thanks for posting this thread.
I was bitching to my finace just last night about the rear end companies. They all advertise "complete ready to install rear-end systems" yet when you go to their sites you can't find any sort of pricing.....arrrgh.

So Quick....I live closer to you.....what can we put together?

      12boly

Around $2500 is pretty accurate... upgrade to the 35 spline axels while you are at it - its ~$20 extra and much stronger.

Just a tip - after shipping the Moser 9" is cheaper and stronger to boot.

I would definitely go with a 9" if your going to spend the money. I was lucky enough to find a full floating 31 spline stock car style set up 9" for $150.00 at a local swap meet. I'm going to rebuild the 3rd member and the housing is currently being shortened but i'll still be in it for less then 2k when I'm finished. It came with a spool, 5.65 gears and warn wilwood disk breaks. None of which I'm using.
