      who's wire harness?

So my nova has been in limbo for almost 6 years and I'm finally gonna make time this winter to give it a complete overhaul/protour face lift any way one of the things on my want/to do list is a new wire harness for the car with modern fuses.
      So far choices look like
      American auto wire
      Painless wire
      Ron Francis wire
      Who's is best? And why? Car has a carb'd LQ4 and a t56.
I have I stalled a painless set up before in a customers car but no experience with the others

Many of us are using AAW, lots of tech and write ups for just about every application.

I used AAW, more than satisfied with their product. I didn't want to buy the crimpers but gave in half way through. Glad I did, the crimpers were a great buy and made everything easier. Also, Mag-daddy fasteners were clutch.

I've done a couple of AAW installs and they went well, no issues.

Of the mainstream harness companies, AAW has some nice kits. M+H also has some cool "mini" kits along with their harness kits. If I didn't build my own I'd vote for AAW. I like to merge late model accessories with older vehicles and nobody else does that so I'm not partial to anybody.

I am using the AAW now on my 70 Camaro, other than a few non labeled wires, it is a nice kit. Easy to modify for my needs.

what about us that just want a safe wiring for the OEM. Running HEI, which needs one wire, one wire alternator, so we need no voltage regulator circuit, no air, no injection, is that complete kit really needed?

I used the AAW Hwy 22 kit, was nice. I know they do offer the kit with factory style bulkhead. There wiring is nice heavy gauge compared to some of the other ones on the market. Customer support is good as well.

It updates the fuses to modern blade style from the old "cut-your-fingers" glass fuses, newer wires are always better than 45 year old ones, and if you believe your car's wiring wasn't ever messed with you're probably wrong, lol.

Car projects are always like building a house. I wouldn't live in a home built in 1910 that has original wiring even if "everything works" and "i only plug in a few things"

I didnt mean not updating the harness, just if the entire camaro kit is overkill if you are not going to use all the extra circuits.

Referring to Snappys response, a race type kit might be enough for a couple hundred less, or enough to pay for the 700R4 conversion harness and solenoids.

      Sure,

we often use the American Autowire Highway 22 universal kit for extra circuits & custom wire placement, or they have a few streetrod harnesses too that take up less space w/less circuits- but take more time to assemble than a camaro replacement.
