Drove the new Z06 today!(PICS ADDED)

All I can say is OH MY GAAAAAWWWWDDDDD!!!!! My day started out normal, runnin' the paint shop at the Dallas Auto Auction. Got a call from someone at the Dallas/Ft. Worth Auto Auction saying that there were some Acura lease returns that needed to be touched-up before the sale tomorrow. Well since my touch-up guy is off on Wednesdays and my other guys were busy with a GM sale, I said I would drive over and do them myself. Now, I honestly didn't want to - but it had to be done. So I show up at the DFW Auction and drive to the back where our 40' x 60' tent is to get some paint material. The area where our tent is set up is also where the auction stores cars for GM Factory. The cars/trucks are shipped to our auction and then delivered to dealers in this region. It sounds like a huge operation, but GM never stores any more than 300 - 500 cars here. Anyway, as I'm pulling up to the tent, I notice a row of C6s. Nothing special, I've seen 'em before. But a yellow C6 catches my eye. Then I notice the wheels, the split 5 spokes of the not-yet released 2006 Z06!!!!! It was still wrapped in plastic!!! I reached for my digital camera under the seat (every once in a while an interesting car comes on the lot) but realized I had left it at home when I uploaded some pics to the desk top. Our lots are ultra-secure so once a vehicle is on the lot, it's doors are left unlocked and the keys are left in them. I know I could've gotten in huge trouble if I wrecked it (isn't there a sayin' - you break it - you buy it? ) but I couldn't resist. It's kinda hard to hot rod around an auction lot in a screamin' yellow Corvette and not be noticed, so I didn't go far and I didn't get on it real hard, but this is the baddest Corvette EVER!! After I parked it I sat in it for 20 minutes trying to figure out how I could come up with the 70k the sticker said it would cost to own. Cash in the 401k? Second mortgage on the house? Sell a kidney? Rob a bank? As bad as this car is, all of those are viable options.................oh,yeah- I'm going back tomorrow to take pictures- Any requests?

That is awesome, I would love to drive a new Z! If you're taking pics, how about a few pics of the brakes? Rotors / calipers. Thanks!

      Sounds very cool!

Now I know where the 70 miles on the odometer came from when I picked up my last new car.

LG Motorsports up in DFW area already dyno tested one yesterday with 50 miles on it. It put down 438 rwhp and 418 ft-lbs, not bad for a stock vehicle with a warranty.

With a cam swap, tuning, and headers, 500+ rwhp should be no problem

Here are the pics of the car. FYI, the aluminum paint stick used for reference is 14inches long! Enjoy....

That red 9 looks almost like mine when I bought it! Except mine sat lower (clapped out springs) and had white walls! Do tell us how much for the 9 so we can all hate you!

I saw the exact same kind (yellow) at the jackson, NJ car show last Friday night. Wow. It has a real Ferrari feel to the way it looks.

Thanks for the pics! The new Z06 is just amazing. The '69 looks pretty solid, too.

I love the 06 C6 Z06s (further proof that the car is a beast). They are frigging sweet. You should just sell tickets for people to drive it, and use the money raised to buy it .

well they have 19" wheels so they must not be able to brake well or handle, those wheels are just much too big. That car is going to be a pig ..............................
