Do speakers have a shelf life?

I bought a pair of 10" subs for my Camaro many years ago but have never used them.

Can they still be used? Do the magnets weaken with age? Does the cone material dry out? Or should they work as new?

The surrounds and the adhesive that Holds them together usually degrades first. If it's been in a decent climate and they are not 20 years old you are probably ok.

Generally, no. The surround can deteriorate depending on what it's made out of, but usually it doesn't. UV rays can speed up that process, so if they were in a box or inside I wouldn't worry much about it.

I still have subs I got in the early 90s still work great. As long as they where stored correctly. out of the sun mostly they should be fine.

Okay great. I have a set of 10" Orion Xtreme DVC subs that I've been holding onto. That brand and model alone should date them. They've never even been wired or installed in a box. Just waiting for the right opportunity.
