Quarter Panel Clearance

I've been mocking up my 69 Chevelle and been checking tire clearances. Right now with spacers there's about 1/2" gap between the sidewall and the rear fender lip. I was planning on rolling the fender lip, but is that enough of a gap or do I need more? If somebody knows how much the rear end flexes sideways when autocrossing I'd like to know. I need some advice from people who's cars are farther along than mine.
