67-68 firebird tail light ideas

I have a 67 firebird I'm working on. I'm trying to figure out if there's any modifications I can do to make the tail lights look nicer. I don't really like how the chrome bezel sticks out so far. I was thinking of maybe if I could figure out a way to recess them a little kind of like the 69 is. I've heard of people flush mounting them but can't find too much info or pictures.
