Photoshop help. Add colors if its only grey or white.

I know how to change colors if the existing picture already has color. However I am not sure how to ADD colors and make it look right. Can some of you photoshop wizards give a quick hint?

This probably would get more attention in the Multimedia forum, but...

I'm not sure what software you're using, but most of 'em have a "colorize" mode. I typically use PS Elements ('cause it came with my scanner) and here is how I do it:

After selecting and making a new layer of just the body, go to Enhance>Adjust Color>Hue/Saturation, like so:


Then, click the "colorize" box and move the sliders, like so:


And get something like this:

Oh wow that turned out awesome!! I was in the right area I just needed to click the "colorize" box. Thank you soo much. I will either download photoshop here at work or just work on it when I get home. Hmm it is lunch time might have to install it here. Again thank you so much.

Duddha did you mask the picture or clone stamp the car in there or is there some way to just color the grey car? I downloaded it here at work and some things seem different than at home. Like the "master" box isnt there in the hue/saturation box.
I did get the colors to start changing which was very nice!!

The mask is achieved with either the round/square Marqueee (mask) tool (which is what I use to cut wheels out of a picture usually) all by itself, or the Pen tool (letter P for shortcut), which you use to "connect the dots", or......you can use the "draw path" tool (same tool, just another option) if you have a steady hand, around the section(s) that you want to affect. After you complete the "path", go to the layers box, click on the path tab, click the black arrow (right below the close wdw X). Choose make selection, choose the size of the feathering (usually 0 to 2 pixels).
That is the "the mask". Now, whatever you change only affects the mask....it sort of "protects" the rest of the image. You can also choose "Select" from the drop down menu and choose inverse to affect just the opposite of the mask.

THanks for the help everyone. I used to mess with photoshop a lot for putting cars into differnt pics but I never messed with the colors. Now with your help its very easy. I need to mess with the mask instead of using clone stamp all the time. Here is an idea of my paint scheme.

Oh believe me I know how addictive this is. I spent almost 5 months straight in photoshop when Gran turismo 4 came out swapping cars around and doing tons of cool crap like making convertibles, multiple cars in a shot, swapping wheels and interior, slamming the cars. I even added drivers to a couple of the pics.
I just never knew how to add colors until now. Thanks again.
