      Hey ya'll,

Got some more updates. Been working on the fenders and hood. Also gapping the doors. Starting to come together nicely. I love the TA hood.

I'm subscribed and loving every update!
Just a suggestion that you probably know already, when welding stainless if you don't purge it you'll end up with it "sugaring" inside. You can also use solar flux available at weld supply stores to paint on the inside of the piping that will cut down on sugaring pretty well too. Im a pipefitter by trade so just trying to pass on a tip I've learned

Subscribed. Great build. Couple of questions, what is the backspace of the wheels? Also, how much did you need to bump out the fenders?

      Hey ya'll,

I got some more updates today. Been doing some more metal work and created some custom inner fender wells. Also finishing up the firewall. I've also been having some more metal working fun on the hood inserts. Originally these pieces were plastic, but I think metal looks better. Should be getting the chassis back from powder coat soon.

      Hey ya'll,

Just got the chassis back from powder coat. We painted it the same color as the Forgeline wheels. I think it looks great.

      Here are the wheels:

      Here is the AMS chassis:

I also added a removable cross-member so we can service the transmission without having to pull the engine.

I really like the finish on the frame and rear end.

I also painted the LSX454 and ATS oil pan to match the frame. Should look pretty good when all assembled.

Right now I'm working on the custom bumpers per Ben's design. Going to recess the bumpers into the body of the car to give it a more sleek and polished look.

      Hey ya'll,

I have another update. Been working on the recessed bumpers to give it more of a sleek look. Bumper is shortened 2" and narrowed 1".

I did the same paint theme with my LS7 by mathching the color of some of the engine components to the powder coat color of the frame. It looks like anthrocite grey. It does tie the chassis and engine in together very nicely. I also am looking at reengineering the rear bumper as you are with the exhaust cutouts in the bumper. I have been following your build from the beginning. You are doing some very impressive work on this car. Nice to see another Pontiac/LSX project.

      Hey ya'll,

Today I have some really exciting updates. The car is really starting to come together nicely.

Just finished spraying primer on the firewall and underside of the car:

I'm really happy with the way the rear end came out. The custom pedestal/ducktail hybrid spoiler and recessed bumper really make it pop.

One of the challenges we had is that in order for it to "look right," we had to move the gas lid up over 1" so that it's vertically centered between the trunk and bumper.

Here is a really great profile shot:

I also did a lot of work on the exhaust cutouts. I added a nice contour that fit the new style and stance of the car:

And finally I have completed the metal work on the 69 Trans Am hood:

I think the steel hood inserts give the car a more aggressive and consistent look when compared to the factory.

      Hey ya'll,

I got some exciting updates for today. I was able to get the engine all dressed up and mounted in the chassis. I also installed the suspension and brakes.

I made a special conduit through the driver's side of the chassis to run all of the gas and brake lines. This way nothing hangs below the chassis and looks nice and clean.

Also mounted a remote oil filter up front.

changes you are making to your firebird! I am customizing a '68' also. The hood mods to the TA hood are really cool! Thanks for sharing your work with us other fabricators.

Great work. Is that adjustable PV going to be very accessible on the outside of the frame once the custom metal work is in place?

I think I'm going steel a few of those ideas some day. Look great. I relay like the cut outs for the exhaust and tucking the bumpers the way you did.

That is a pretty trick trunk spoiler. Is that just round bar with sheet metal tacked to it? Looks more like a 69 spoiler. Thank you for not using a camaro spoiler

thanks, the PV should be easy enough to get to through the fender, only have to set it once as far as I know

Thanks, im sure these are not original to me, somebody somewhere has done this stuff before. The spoiler is made with round tube as a Frame and the sheet metal welded to the frame. There are some more pictures of it earlier in the thread

The exhaust looks great, keep the posts coming. Can you tell me if your tank is custom? Or is it an off the shelf model? thanks, Lee
