      manual 4l80e?

Is it possible to make a 4l80e shift only through the floor shifter like no computer to control the shift just my floor shifter? I found a sweet shifter and would love to mimic shifting gears like in a manual. I'd go with a manual trans but can't since my dad has gout in his left knee and would be able to enjoy the car thanks!

      manual 4l80e?

You still need some kind of controller I think. A fully manual street car is going to put a lot if stress on the Trans mainly when down shifting. You can set it to being like a manual but again downshifts aren't the best on them. You won't get the same type of pleasure out of driving a manual automatic as you would a 6 speed because there's no clutch.

I know hard downshifting will kill it quickly but I'm just talking about up shifting it through the shifter and only down shifting when it's safe like rpm in 3rd gear is 2k and I want to go to 2nd. I know I won't ever have the clutch feeling but like I said I would go manual but then my dad wouldn't be able to drive the car

Wouldn't a full manual valve body be what he is looking for?

      manual 4l80e?

Yeah you'd be able to use a B&M mllLega shifter and probably program the computer to be able to do that. I'd check with the manufacturer and see.

http://www.racereadyproducts.com/automatic-shifters/winters-sidewinder-standard-shifter/ this is the shifter I am planning on using and in the future ordering a twist machine torque converter they claim to allow engine braking hopefully that is correct

I've been looking into run the transmission without a controller but decided (one day) to get one. The solenoids control the pressure, if you just run a 12v switch to it, you will run it at full pressure(I think).

That's a good decision. Electronics are a big part of what makes these transmissions so great. Sophisticated lock up control, precise shift point and firmness tuning. Want that 1-2 to happen a little later at 10% TPS? Dial it in... 3-4 shift happening too soon? Dial it in. Lock up in 2, 3, 4 or 4 only? Piece of cake. You can truly tailor the transmissions personality to your and your vehicle's exact preferences. While you CAN do manual VB control, its a shame in my opinion.

To anyone who reads this, transmission electronics are way easy to set up and calibrate. Have no fear.

I run the Jakes box, works perfect... upshift & downshift no issues...
