Hello - way cool web site !
I have a 1984 hurst oldsmobile. I was wondering if anybody new what size tires and wheels (with off set) i can fit under the car with out allot of modifications.the car does sit about 1-1.5" lower than stock - from what i have found: 245/45/17 front and 255/45/17 nittos will fit and a 4.5" back spacing on the rim.

I'm running 275/40/17s on 17x9.5s with a 5.0" backspace on all four corners of my G-body with no rubbing anywhere. An aggressive alignment up front really helps with tucking the front tires properly to keep them from rubbing.

You can fit a 275/40/17 nitto out back with a 5.0" backspace very easily with maybe a 1/8" spacer is all.

How did you lower the front, drop spindles or shorter springs?

It has 1" shorter spings - I would like a little skinner in the front - whats your thoughts ?
Im assuming you dont have stock suspension either ?

I have helped a number of customers with the G body cars and can help you fit 17's 18's or 20's.

I've had several different suspensions on my car but currently it's on ridetech coil over shocks and front lower control arms.

Drop spindles cause some tie rod end clearance issues with some wheels is why I asked, if on stock spindles you are good.


Here is my car last year with 2" drop springs all the way around, 275/40/17s on 17x9.5 5.0" bs rear, 245/40/17s on 17x8 4.5" bs fronts

looks awesome - I am looking at just a driver that looks way cool - I just want to put the wheels and tires on it and drive it. Maybe newer front and rear sway bars. Just not get crazy with suspension. Do you think the thread I started with size would look good or even go with a little wider in the back. You have been very helpful (thank you)

If you havnt bought the rims and tires yet I would go with the 275s on all four corners.

Yes, I can fit an 18X10 under a Grand National without any modification and no rubbing.

Holy smokes - you guys are awesome. Myles to you have a picture of your 88 cutlass with the 17" ?

As a heads up, regal and cutlass have a flat lip on the front inner fender that takes away an extra 1/2" of space or so. On a severely lowered car you end up going to a shorter tire to go wide, cutting the inner fenders, or sticking with a 245/255 width. A lot of people claim you can put a ton of tire in there, then have 2 inches of space above them riding like a 4x4. Always be cognizant of ride height vs fitment. That comment wasn't directed at anyone in this thread, just something I learned in general about internet wheel fitment advice.
