New guy here for Tech and Fabrication/Build ideas

Not sure how "classic muscle car" my 1995 Cobra convertible is BUT, it is an over exaggerated street car. Like most car guys, I couldn't leave well enough alone. So I took a 100% factory original low mileage (30,000 for 12 years old) and got silly with it.

End result was (because it has changed since) 642rwhp at 14# of boost on E85 with VERY low timing (turned out to hurt us in heat as we wanted stock driveability - more timing would have been better and obviously more HP)

      Suspension:
Coil over at all 4 corners on Billstein shocks valved for Maximum Motorsports (MM) specs
      MM HD Torque Arm
      MM Panhard Bar
      MM K-Member
      MM front lower control arms
      MM rear lower control arms
      MM caster camber plates

Wheels - 1995 Cobra R factory Ford wheels:
      Fronts 17x9 with Nitto NT05 275/35-17
Rears 17x10.5 with Nitto NT05R 315/35-17......I had the rears widened the 1.5" and then all 4 refinished

      Brakes:
Baer two piece rotors 13" front and 11" rear
Factory Cobra calipers powder coated Red

      Rear:
      Auburn HD diff
      3.31:1 gears
      31 spline axles

      Tranny:
T56 viper spec with the .50:1 6th gear
      Zoom dual disc clutch
      Aluminum flywheel
      SFI bellhousing

      Motor
      Dart Sportsman 4.125" bore, 348ci
      AFR 185 cylinder heads
      Titanium keepers/retainers
Ed Curtis (FTI) cam spec'd to the motor
Ed Curtis valve springs for the cam
Edelbrock Victor Jr EFI "spyder" manifold ported by Ed Curtis to match cylinder heads
      Precision 76mm Turbo with .96ar and a 4" downpipe
      Custom air to water intercooler

      Oil system:
      High Volume pump
      7qrt Canton pan
Hamburger's remote mount (System 1-filter) filter
      Earls thermostat
      Derale cooler with fan
all -10an hose and Earls Anotuff fittings

      EFI:
      Holley Dominator ECU with touchscreen
Sensors for every fluid temp (trans, diff, engine, etc) and pressure and for every air temp and pressure
GM coil near plug with a trigger wheel and cam sensor

      Fuel system:
18gal fabricated aluminum fuel cell by Behind Bars Race Cars
      Magnafuel Pro 750
      E85 fuel
      120# injectors

      Exterior and body:
Pretty much stock and I like it that way but I did take a hood vent from a 2010 GT500 and grafted it in to help get rid of radiator exhaust.

Interior is full of Dynamat on all exposed metal and for a convertible it is relatively quiet inside with the top up....but what fun is the top up!

      The car how it started

Where she was for the Hot Rod Power Tour 2012:

on the tour.....using the stock wheels. my Cobra R's have a drag radial and it was raining the first day of our trip, damn it!

The car retains the factory Power Steering and sudo factory HVAC. I built all the a/c lines to get them out of the engine bay and to clear all the turbo components. Then remote located the receiver dryer and used a GM condenser for higher air flow vs the Ford stuff. The p/s lines have been converted to all stainless braided teflon hose to handle the pressures and I reworked the PSI valve to lower the pressure - more driver input.

The car ran fine for months and we really enjoyed just cruising. Went on the last leg of the Power Tour and experienced a charging issue. Problem was, a wire I extended in the alternator harness failed me and caused a short to power = battery drained = when charged I smoked the AEM ECU (hence the change to the Holley). While it was down I decided to make some more changes. Moved from air/air intercooler to a air/water. Upgraded from -8an oil lines to -10. Upgraded from a smaller Derale cooler with no fan, to one with and much larger. Incorporated the Earls oil thermostat. Upgrading from a single 4" steel exhaust off a 3.5"DP to a dual 3" all aluminum exhaust off a 4"DP. Ditching the factory cluster for a all Autometer Phantom II gauges. Upgraded to a 200amp alternator (chasing the charging issue - doh!).

So here is how she sits right now. In pieces. The intercooler in mock up

So all that said. Not sure the car is a fit for this forum but I look forward to reading other builds and having another source of tech.

Do you get much use out of 6th gear with that rear end ratio?

      80 down the highway is under 2,000rpms in 6th gear (.50:1). 5th, if I remember right, is a .87:1.
