New from Ireland - 2nd Gen

Hi I'm Louis from Belfast. I have always wanted an American car and hovered round anything I could ever see at local show which was always very limited. I have played with various cars and can't leave anything alone. I started with a classic mini and made it handle and go well. I also seem to have a thing for volvo wagons and strapped bigger turbos to a couple of them.

Last few months I made the decision to sell everything and buy my the car I really wanted. I got rid of my hill climb Miata and bought the Camaro unseen from England. I got the car delivered last week and have had a serious grin ever since.

The previous owner didn't seem to know a lot about the car and I am not sure myself. I'm used to 4 cylinders and stick transmissions. I will probably be asking a lot of questions here while I go on a mission to get the car up to standard.

What i'm told about the car and what I have seen:

      383 Stroked SBC
Speed Demon 850 cfm mechanical secondaries
Not 100% sure on transmission but its manual valve body and reversed with a B&M ratchet (how do I tell model of trans?)
Some air adjustable shocks in the rear, not quite sure what they are all about.

The car is a nice 5-10 foot car. Seems pretty solid with only a small amount of floor pan starting to go which I will sort soon. The paint has been lashed over about 3 different colours and is bubbling in a few places. My plan is to get the car running good and reliable and more importantly understand the car then hopefully strip it to bare metal in a year or so do any repairs and make it a bit more understated as the paint isn't my cup of tea.

I would love to know more on the spec of the motor and will try and find out what I can. I am told its an eagle stroker kit but thats all the previous owner knew. It feels pretty urgent but need to add some more speed to it.

If there is anyone local that knows their stuff or just wants to learn along with me get in touch.

One thing that is horrible is the brakes, I've checked the pads and shoes and bled the system and all is well but they are still very scary. The previous owner left some aftermarket performance pads and even they didn't make it any better. I think the M/C or Servo is my problem but not sure what I should change it for.

The headers are flattened at the bottom and hang pretty low, again I'm not sure whats best to go for brand wise but I have made a couple of nice turbo downpipes for volvo's and vw rabbit pickups with 1.8 20vt conversions so maybe I will have a go at making a set.

I have babbled on a bit so I will throw a few pics in here to make it worth reading.

Glued together with my little dc scratch start inverter, hope to buy a proper tig soon.
