      Mustang II steering box question

I bought a new power rack and it is 15.5" center to center of the mounts - thought they were always 16". If I relocate the mounts (Weld-it Series) what will be the dimension off the left (driver's side) LCA mount - assuming I'm using the Mustang II LCA mount dimensions of 21.75". I would guess this has come up before??

If you picked up a power rack, it's most likely from an 82-88 Thunderbird. They do indeed come with a 15.5" CTC dimension b/w the mounting bushings. True (stock) mustang II racks were not available powered, so you either get an aftermarket unit, or a rebuilt Tbird (what you and I both did).

There are 2 ways to address this issue:
      1) offset mounting bushings. See speedway motors, summit, etc.
      2) weld up new mounting points. Why bother when you can just get different bushings?

I'm going to assume that if you swap for offset bushings, your mounting questions is no longer relevant. Shout back if that's not true.
      Good luck!

The drivers side mount stays in the same location. Many companies use a slotted passenger side rack mount to allow both rack styles.

In high school I was the second owner of an (at first) bone stock 1976 Mustang Cobra II. It had factory power steering. I'm 100% sure the Mustang II was available (if not standard) with power steering . I've never seen a MII without it.

Rod&Custom Motorsports uses Fox body mustang steering racks. Not sure what the dimension is for them. But I can get it when I get home.

I also had a buddy that bought a all original Mustang II cobra. It had P/S.
