I thought the car was pretty but I think there are some cars here that are overall way nicer than that car.

The car has alot that i like and then other things that i would change completely but overall i think it is cool. I am excited to see the attention that the cars are getting and it makes me proud to think that i have my own version in the works right here in my garage

I was watching my wife feed the baby as she watched me watch Rides. She was interested in the show and Foose a little bit, I was pleased-her first interest in cars. She actually said why don't you get one of those (Eleanor's) and loved it and the color combo. She also loved that black Camaro pictured above with the red interior.

What car won Street Machine of the Year ?

Personally I loved the Foose Camaro look. Too bad it will cost so much, but I read that the parts will be available from Year one so I suppose one could pick and choose some choice add ons.

I liked the car but, I was a little disappointed. I expected a little more from a Foose Design car. Look around this site and you'll see pictures of numerous other 69's that I think blow away Foose's 69. Don't flame me too bad, just my opinion. If you had the mule, Streetking's 69, the black Camaro above, the red one that won the Year One cup and Foose's 69 all sitting in a row, which one would you want to look at first. Take the name off the car and tell me which car you would walk up to first. I say Foose's car is the last in the group that would catch my attention. Like I said, just my opinion.

I liked the car a lot.

However, there will be criticisms....there always is.

As far as the car is concerned, I would have liked to have seen a more aggressive re-design of the front fascia (i.e Eleanor). Also...they could have done more to dress up the engine. I am not a big fan - nor have I ever been - of painted valve covers. They left the stock valve covers on that the 572 comes with from the factory. If you're going to be asking upwards of a quarter of a million dollars (which wouldn't surpirse me) than you had better spare no expense. Get a little closer to detail. Have some valve covers custom made. Screw the Covan dash...make your own. Steering wheel....custom made, Wheels...one off, . If you're paying for an original 'one of a kind' car than steer clear of the off-the-shelf parts. For my money it should have had a tubular chassis and custom front and rear suspension THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

Hey I'm not trying to knock the car, it's a great car. Yet another that I would sever a left nut to own. I just wish Rides would have shown more of the build instead of all the senseless back story.

On the Unique site it talks about having a Chris Alston's Chassisworks front subframe and power rack... What? I have Alston's front subframe and the manual rack, which I thought was their only option. I even called again not 2 weeks ago and asked for any other options for another rack setup - and there was none. I've only driven my car a few times around the block before it got locked up in jail, but the steering was not easy (obviously at low speed) and seemed to be a lot of turns lock to lock. WTF???

I like the red Camaro better than the black Camaro in the pics above solely based on the proportions of the wheels/tires to the car. Big Time Muscle Diecast toys look great in small scale but in my honest opinion there's a stoppign point on the wheel and tire size on a muscle car atleast. The wheels and tires on the black car are just plain too big. There's not a bit of function there, it's all about looks which is OK for some I guess. And maybe that's all they were going for but for me a car is gotta be funtional and look good at the same time. It's a plain black Camaro with gigantic wheels.
Sorry, I had to say it. It's neat but the red one is about the limits of wheel and tire sizes on a 1st gen Camaro.

My $0.02: Lack of rear spoiler, and don't like the blacked out RS grille. Otherwise I like the car. But as stated above, there are nicer cars (in my opinion) from people on this site (Mule, Streetking etc)

On another note: Guys this was a partnership between: Unique, Foose and Year One: Of course they want the parts from this car to sell from the shelves, there is a huge market for just parts as there is for the whole car.

I guess nobody caught Scott Kileen shooting the car for the next BUILD BOOK? Since they are trying to mass produce the car, I understand they can't be too radical with modifications. At this point I am more interested in seeing the final product before I voice my opinion again. Since its debut they have added Marquez taillights, DSE wiper motor, got rid of the Covan's dash and appears to have a DSE dash now. They are suppose to change the hood and a few other things as well. We will see were it ends up.

Kevin King was pretty clear on the episode: Building cars on a production basis is entirely different that building one-offs. Compromises are made to achieve consistent mass produced cars.

We all know that Foose can build a pretty good one-off. Let's pick his latest one-off, hand made Ridler winner. If Foose were to build 500 "Impression" 36 Fords, compromises would have to be made. The production cars simply would not be as good or as detailed as the original. There's just no way to effectively mass produce a car that took 7 years to produce by hand. And if you could pull it off, it would probably be MORE expensive, since it would take an army of highly skilled craftsmen to build each car in a timely fashion. That's why Ford thrived in the beginning of the last century and Duesenberg went bye-bye.

So there are many better one off pro-touring cars than the Foose/Unique car. No doubt. The presence of the Dupont Registry guy was most telling. I'll wager good money that mister Dupont swapped advertising for that Foose convertible. And these cars will go to Dupont Registry readers. These cars will not go to individuals who know how to have their own one-off cars built. The Unique customer is essentially ignorant to the custom cars building process.
      -He's got the dough.
-He's never heard of Wheel2Wheel or Detroit Speed or Pro-Touring.com.
-He believes the hype. ($550K for a Unique 500E Convertible?).
-He wants someone to yell at if it breaks.
      -And he wants it now!!
Time will tell if the "Foose/Discovery Channel" brand carries as much weight as the "Gone In 60 Seconds" brand. I could be wrong, but I think the Foose cars will only be worth 60-75 cents on the dollar compared to the Eleanor cars. Foose and the Discovery channel may not carry as much weight as a 1-1/2 hour Hollywood movie that's re-run on cable every other freakin' day.

Gone in 60 Seconds II anyone?

Didn't see the show but I heard the rear suspension was trick, something about horizontal coil overs. Luv Chips' stuff normally, but this one didn't do much for me visually.

      Steve,,
great post, comments ring very true- to the crowd the car will be marketed, it seems like a match made in heaven. To the rest of us it seems that we can build them better ourselves or use the PT community to do it in a one-off manner. I personally like the car, whoever makes it or buys it.

Unique makes that rear suspension for Elenaors and Camros too.

You are correct.....I like the fact that they tried something a little different though! I love the car...I would like a little bit better if it had 18's and 20's instead of 20's and 22's!
