The Front Sub Frame can completely disconnect from your Car, The Rear Frame Rails are then part of the Uni-Body. We at BMR and other Companies make a Sub-Frame Connector that ties the Front to the Rear for better rigidity. We make both a Bolt-In and a Weld-In Sub Frame Connector. We sell a lot more Bolt-Ins due to the fact that it easy to install and there no need to notch the Floor Pans. I know other companies don't need to nothch, but thier Connectors are either too thin or stick down to much IMHO.

We don't make a New Fron Sub Frame, but who ever's you would buy has to Bolt In. Our Rear Torque Arm with Watts Link & Coil-Over Kit Bolts in, but you could weld it in place.

The Reasoning behind Bolt-in is that these cars are ever increasing in Value and what might be pleasing to you may not be to the next Owner. If you Weld something in, it's staying there. If you bolt it in, you can un-bolt it.

You also said you were Restoring the Firebird - it sounds more like you are wanting to modify it.

Not trying to be rude, but learn what you have before you start throwing money into things. There's so much information out there on these cars, it will make your head spin. Research...Research...Research
