      Labeled wires ??

I know most of the DIY wiring harnesses these days come with labels printed on the wire every few inches or so. Does anyone sell individual labeled wire by the foot so you can pick and chose what you need/want ???

Pretty sure I've seen this in American Autowire's catalog for popular applications....

I saw where they have complete harnesses but not individual wires. I'll look again. May also call them. Thanks

I have a K-Sun label maker. They sell all sorts of labels but one in particular is a heat shrink tube. The tube comes flattend in a roll and is printed just like a standard label. Once printed and cut from the machine, the tube is squeezed open and slipped over a wire then heat shrinked to make a permanent label on the wire. It works pretty slick and of course you can label it anything you choose.

Thanks for the idea. Our old Brother labeler died and we need a new one. I never thought about a labeler with shrink wrap labels before. That should do the trick.

Thanks. I had seen most of those wires already. But didn't meet my needs. I did find a label maker by Brother. PT-E300 that prints on shrink wrap labels. Reviews were pretty good. It's pricey at $130. But seems to be very versatile and sturdy. I should get mine delivered on Wednesday. I'll try a few heat shrink labels this weekend and report back on my findings. I'll also post a few pics.

Got the label maker yesterday. Just had time to unpack it and look it over. This thing is pretty big. But being an "industrial" label maker it's full of options. I line the case which can hold a bunch of extra label cartridges. It has a rechargeable battery. Plus, you can also use 6 AA batteries if necessary. Which is a nice feature. The shrink tube option is a pretty nice option also. I'll have some time this weekend to do some test printing with the shrink tube on some wire. I'll post some results when I'm done.
