      holley 750 dp?

      Hey guys,
I picked up a holley 750 dp with mechanical sec. Pretty cheap and would like some imput if i can get it to work with the set up im using with my 72 chevelle.350 sbc .040,214-234 ,.443-.465 @.050 cam i think 112 deg ,hei, edelbrock performer rpm manifold.1-5/8 long tube headers,2.5 exhaust, iron heads,th350 trans w/shift kit 2500 stall, current gears are 3.73.i would also like some ideas on what i need to buy or mod for autocross road race events.the chevelle is pretty much a toy so i will drive it on the streets but im going to use it more for the events.also im using a 650 afb,but was told not a great carb for what im planning on using the car for.thoughts?thank you.
      Phil

It will work fine. For a carb mod I'd put in the foam inserts they make to keep fuel from sloshing around too much in the float bowls.

Can't go wrong with a Holley! Double check the jetting to make sure what it has in case someone has messed with it. Stock jetting will be a good starting point? If it is an older model watch for cracks in the base plate!

For street use, a 650 will drive better and get better fuel mileage. I would even use the 650 in autocross. The 650 will be more responsive in the lower RPM's and would be better suited for street and autocross duty. For dragracing and road course, I'd go with a 750 on a single plane intake. You'll spend most of your time in the upper RPM's and the latter setup will give you better power in that range.

You can use it but it will probably not be optimum for your setup. You'll need to spend time tuning of course to get it to run good. The throttle response will be slower than with a small CFO, carb but your WOT performance will benefit from the 750. 750s can be mad to run good for a mostly street mild build motor, you just need to spend time playing with it to get it right.
