If I'm running 3.42 gear in a 10 bolt with 295-35-18 tires and if I go with a 700r4 tranny my motor is a 350 olds with a 520/523 lift my question will a 700 r4 be a choice to go with?

If you plan on keeping the Olds engine, the only OD automatic that is available with the BOP bolt pattern is the 200-4R. All others, including 700-R4, 4L60/65/80 etc will require an adapter plate. Not a big deal, but something to keep in mind for you.

It will lug a bit in OD. A tight converter is recommended.

Did you ever go play on those sites I sent you to. My advise is really get what you want the first time. Don't do it twice.
