      Chevelle Sweep Dash Question

So here's my situation, I recently took out the original th350 in favor of a th200r-4, so I lost my stock column shifter. My Chevelle has a sweep gauge with the gauge selector, but I've been thinking about replacing it all with some nice aftermarket gauges like Stewart Warners. The only options I've seen are Covan's dashes, or his new company Thunder dash, or whatever it is, but I really don't want to completely change the dash, just the place where the gauges. So I was thinking about taking out the old sweep and gauge selector and creating a panel to go in place of it and drill my own holes.

While trying to find out the dimensions, and a diagram of the sweep gauge area I ended up finding this

from Metrom, but from what I've read they no longer exist, and would rather not spend $450 on a product which doesn't have a supporting company in case there are any problems. I don't want to take my dash apart to figure it out, because I don't want to get suck not being able to drive her for awhile.

Which, brings me to my question. Does anyone have the measurements for the space where the gauges are or even better a drawing that I can work off of? I was thinking about making it out of carbon fiber, so if I can get some help and people would want it I would gladly make more. Thanks guys

      Chevelle Sweep Dash Question

While I can't help with the dimensions, I can also tell you Metrom is no longer. There may be some companies that have some items in stock though, so it may be worth a phone call to a Metrom dealer.

      Chevelle Sweep Dash Question

Thanks Dale. This is the 2nd time today you've helped me still in some way, thanks man. Hopefully if I can't make one I can find them somewhere. Btw, I love the builds you guys do at Swartz. Hopefully one day I can get one of those amazing chassis you guys make.

Hopefully someone might have some more info so I don't have to keep trying to hunt one of those down.

Would that Metrom item fit in a sweep dash? AD states for round gauge dash. Looks good though.

4MuscleMachines - Yes that Metrom insert is for the 70-72 sweep gauge dash. Btw, what do you mean AD says? The problem is they are no long made and about $450 if you find them. I'm looking at making something similar out of carbon fiber or fiberglass, but need one to work off of. I can't remove mine because then I can't drive my car till its done, which could be awhile. I'm hoping someone has the information for me on dimensions and screw placement so I can make them or better yet if someone has one laying around, if they can send it to me I would use it as a template, would make things move much faster.

Dale - You guys were one of my inspirations to move my car in this direction instead of just being a straight line bruiser. I wish you guys were closer, I would die to see the shop and see things up close and meet everyone.

crazy! Good thing I ordered one when I did. I have a brand new one sitting, waiting to be installed into my sweep dash. That truly sucks that they went under :(

Any chance of you taking measurements and some pictures for me so I can make a template? Btw, love your Chevelle.
