So while we have the interior out of the car I am going to fix a couple things that have bugged me.

      This pic says alot.

I dont like the 2 toned dash, the Autometers in the custom dash is nice for driving, but is not correct for the look im going for in the car. The big stereo has got to go. The door jams were painted without removing the weatherstripping.

I went to a junk yard and found this.

      It had an uncut dash

      Its cut now!

I am going to remove the dash panel, and add this guage panel that goes behind the factory dash. I will also be adding my factory radio.

Here is the car leaving the uphoulstry shop headed to paint.

We found some cancer hiding behind the windshield trim.

We have decided to repaint the car.

Door gutted, even the wing window. We will be shaving the door locks.

      Fenders off

Looks ready for the dirt track

Cut thru the paint to see where the factory put on the quarters, yup, lead.

      Same behind the rear window

Looks like the red was painted over, notice the different shade where the trim was

Factory quarter panel on this side too

Trunk lock would not come out. I made it.

Last shots of the custom dash

Coming apart (notice the shifter still on the column)

Ready for metalwork on the dash

Started cleaning out the weatherstrip channels

Found a small hole, only one we have found.

Going to bare metal where the seam sealer and weatherstripping goes so we will have clean paint

Removing sealer on the quarter panel seams

Cleaning the jams, they will be as smooth as the outside when done

Amazing that this car looks like this right now. Kinda freaking me out.

Removing all the sealer on the drip rails

2 door post car... Thunderbolt that was waiting to be something... At least it gave up parts for your repair.

Your car is looking good and will be a solid car when you're done. What are the plans? Looks like a straight line runner right now.

Really cool car. I love those. And a friend owned Dyno Don's Thunderbolt. Crazy how that car drove. 1/4 is all you could drive it.

Keep us posted. We all love the pictures.

That car in the yard was a 4 door, kinda hard to see in the pics. I think the guy i got the car from did some drag racing as the car has 4.10 gears, a spool and line locks. I want to make it handle better than that and cruise.

Pulled the heater side of the dash panel from my white '64

With the oversprayed guage side that came with the red '64

Mocked up in the dash, these will be restored later after all the metalwork is done. We hare having to weld on some tabs where they cut some dash away to install that custom panel that was in there.

Working on the quarter panel seams where the factory lead is.

      Ouch.

      Pulled the other for resale.

This was the only way to aquire a nice original quarter panel.

      Headed home.
