Yes. I was a Snap-On dealer for a few years, when all of their tools were made in the U.S.A. Obviously, they are not anymore. So why pay Snap-On prices for much the same quality you can buy at Harbor freight for far less?

From what I have read the drawers have no problems staying closed. They supposedly have latches on them. Is anyone near a Harbor Freight that can go check it out? I am a FEW thousand miles from the closest one.

V8 Square: I am going to bail on snap on all together. I used to hear the old guys talk about how awesome Snap On is and how they stand by their products and the warranty, now they do everything they can to skip out of warranty. If I am going to get taiwan support I minght as well just buy Taiwan tools. I know that habor freight will take a tool back when it is broken without hassle, even kobalt tools are doing the same. Maybe it will be time to sell all my Snap On and just buy twice as much Kobalt.

The 44" box is built pretty good. There is no locking mechanism though. The 56" box does have this feature. ALot of my mechs have snap on or matco boxes about the same size. If they were painted the same and both had same lables i wouldnt be able to tell the difference. The 44" box would be nice for the house and honestly its better than my SS craftsman box that i paid $1100 for. If you are looking for a nice box or workbech get two of the 44" boxes and add wood on top of them.

If you are going to take a box to the shop get the bigger 56" box. I feel like it would hold up better.

And not 44" is really the length with the handles, the box itself is like 42" "if 2" matters" right, that's what she or he said, got it!

One thing I've noticed about the HF tool boxes is the "quality" of assembly at the stores. I bought the 5 drawer roll around cart about 2 years ago. To be honest, when I went to the local HF to check it out, I almost walked out based on how "flimsy" it felt in the store. But, with the discount coupon, and for a final price of about $175, I decided to try it anyway. I spent time assembling it carefully, ensuring it was square and aligned before final tightening of the bolts. I must say that it is VERY stout and much better than my first impression from the store model. I understand the store model gets kicked around quite a bit and probably isn't that well assembled in the first place, but 2 years later and the use/abuse it receives, I am still very happy with the cart and like others, would buy another one in a heartbeat if space allowed. I see Mac/Matco/Snap On boxes on CL all the time, and would like one, but would rather get the HF big box and put more money in the car or tools. With proper assembly, I don't see how you could go wrong.

The 13 drawer is actually fully assembled minus the handles. The tool box out/off it's pallet slid into the back of my S6 without issues. One thing also that is kind of nice, is that each drawer has a factory cut drawer liner. So you don't have to go out and pick up and cut yourself the liners, each drawer is already lined (probably could get thicker, more expensive liner I guess). Also what's neat is that it comes with long strips of white "paper" and clear plastic covers (slides into the front of each drawer for ID) so that you can identify each drawers contents or by name or by other, but that's included as well, so you could ID each drawer (As we age, it sometimes takes us a couple of drawers to figure out where we put that darn drive)

Nice box, will be putting my MAC USA built tool box up for sale at Garage Journal probably.

I've had the 5 drawer cart for over 2 years, working out of it everyday. I bought it to replace the $1200 Snap-On cart that was stolen. It is just as nice and twice the size of the S/O cart. I will be buying two 44" top & bottom sets, one for all my fab tools and one for the house garage. If I had it to do over I would buy 4 top & bottom sets and not bought my Snap-On box.

just bought the big box for 699 a few days ago great box nothing wrong with it deff better Quality then craftsman i have a buddy that works there and he said that they spent alot of time making these boxes which they were designed in Calabasas ca and made over seas

the big box definately would not of fit in the back of my S6.... But I would have liked the extra space!

Mine is supposed to get delivered tomorrow. I had to pay the extra 100.00 for delivery because there is no way my wife was gonna go get it and I dont have anyone local that could help. I wish I could see the look on her face when the guy drops it off and she has to move it into the garage!

The lower brand boxes are built with lighter gauge sheet metal, see if it has sliders for drawer rails or roller bearings. I think there are a lot of decent boxes for the home do it yourself guys. Check the shipping weight if your comparing boxes. I sold snap on for many years so I will always vote Snap On, It is expensive but there is also value there. I have seen some snap on boxes on ebay for decent prices. For 600 bucks I don't think you could go wrong. Snap on guy will always give you 600 bucks trade in.

Was just at HF today, checked out the toolboxes. Pretty nice. About the same quality as the Homak box I got from Costco last year, which is also nicer than most of the Craftsman boxes I have checked out lately. Seems Craftsman uses thinner metal now, and more Craftsman tools are made in China now. Very disappointing. Have a 25+ year old Matco top box that I inherited from my dad. Seems many new ones cannot even match that one.
