A question for anyone with black headers...

I've had a few sets of polished ceramic coated headers that look nice and shiny in the box. However, after a few months they turned to a dull cast iron look. I am considering black headers for my current project. Will the finish on the black headers turn, or will they stay looking nicer than the polished ceramic coated headers? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

every set of black headers i've had faded really bar after a a few months of regular use, i'd just respray them black to freshen them up, can't to that with ceramic coat. that being said i now have ceramic coated headers on my car, i believe jet hot is also offering black ceramic coating if you want to go that route, i know one guy that had his bike exhaust done and it looked really nice.

Thanks for the info. After doing a little more research, I'm probably going with the polished ceramic coat.

Just a question, how did you first "break in" your headers? I think you are supposed to just start up the car for 90 secs then let the headers cool and then run it for 2 mins or something like that and then let the headers cool again, it will finish the curing process from what Im told, and also to never break in a new engine with ceramic headers. On a cheap $180 pair of ceramic headers I had I didnt do the break in process and it just turned the bends a tarnished purple color but they are still shiny after 8 years.
