We can help Hurricane Katrina victims...

Do we have any members who may live in the devastated areas who might need some help? Perhaps we could all chip in for them.

I'll be donating via an established charity in addition to perhaps helping any of our fellow members who may be in need.

Is there any way that we might be able to contact/find any members who are in need? Mods with profiles divided by location?

What about the map that was around for a while showing member locations? Probably not all the members for sure, since we have grown significatly since the map was around, but it might be a start.

Having lived through Andrew here in Miami, I am all to familiar with the misery which those people are enduring!

Perhaps if a member is in need and reads this they can respond and help coordinate with fellow members in their area if they know of there whereabouts.

Good to hear you are okay. My guess with most of the ones who need help is that we wont hear from them for a while. But lets see if we can get some more response for help...I am in to help members that need it. I dont know how much help I can be though, but Ill do what I can.

Any donations to Red Cross would be more than welcome. And if anyone near by can volunteer their services to the red cross. Blood will also be needed.

I think the Red Cross is a great idea. Every hour I hear more and more about the devastation. My mother was evacuated for a couple of days and has since returned home and all is well.

If anyone wants to search for a member that might be in an effected area you can do an advanced member search by following this link.

I'm in Jackson too. There was damage here (and no electricity), but the worst is south of us. I've got family in H'burg and the Miss coast who made it ok (but in need of necessities as simple as water), plus lots a friends in New Orleans who are now homeless.

Donations to the Red Cross would be one of the best ways to make sure your help made it to those in need.
